Idichakka Thoran
Ingredients
1. Tender jackfruit (1 ½ to 2 months old) - ½ of 1
2. Salt - to taste
3. Chilli powder - ½ tsp
4. Turmeric powder - ¼ tsp
Masala
5. Grated coconut - 1 ½ to 2 cups
6. Green chilli - 4 to 5
7. Shallots / garlic - 4 to 5
8. Turmeric powder - ¼ tsp
9. Pepper - ½ tsp
10. Curry leaves - ½ tsp
Seasoning
11. Coconut oil - 2 tbsp
12. Black gram dal - 1 tsp
13. Mustard seeds - ½ tsp
14. Red chilli - 3 to 4
15. Curry leaves - plenty
Preparation
1. Boil the jackfruit with items 2 to 4 till half cooked, with minimum water.
2. Slightly crush the masala ingredients with the boiled cooked jackfruit pieces.
3. Heat oil & season with the ingredients, add the crushed masala & jack fruit.
4. Add the jackfruit boiled water & stir well, close & cook on slow fire. When the water almost evaporates ready to serve.
