Gerry Amaldev is a good composer. But he wants to make ppl believe he is an apostle. His tunes when first introduced were hits. Repetition proved to spell his doom. His tunes in "sanmanasullavarrk samadhanam" are considered hits, but he treads the same beaten track of "1-2" and "1-2-3" rhythm. It's true that aplmost all his songs have shades of góspel music. He may have been innocent in the Dadettan issue, but he is still spiteful to Dasettan for no reason. Thanks for the beautiful songs in "MVP". Have a tuneful life Gerry.
Rahman started the electronic music wave. Anyway somebody would have started the same eventually. But he even changed and manipulated the texture of human voices
I hate electronic music instruments Such as key boards and and drum etc any thing that is played in electronic instruments i hate it very much. Any traditional instruments makes the music sound wonderful.
First and the foremost thing is that violin is not an Indian musical instrument. Since it being the king of instruments which is very near to human voice, can find a place in any system of music. Violin is a family member. Violin, Viola Cello, double bass and a little more constitute the family. An average Indian citizen knows nothing beyond a film song. Besides, in Indian system of music the rendering style has something to do with the region to which the musician belongs. Therefore, a keerthanam can be sung by incorporating the singer's manodharma into it. The only thing is that the manodharma should be within the raga. Now, with an example I shall elaborate it- the song "thamasamenthe varuvan" is in the brains of an average malayalee now. (I mean, the people of my age group) The song has left an indelible mark in the memory of an average Malayalee. However great a singer be, any improvisation, irrespective of whether it sensical or nonsensical from his part to decorate the song will distort/kill the real song. To be more precise, a singer has no right to encroach into the brain of the composer. Similarly, when the producer (who is totally ignorant of the basics of music) dictates the music and musical instruments to be used in the background of a classical theme, then it is the death of the composer/music director. I have no moral right to be extremely assertive in this regard as my means of livelihood is not music. I regret for the harsh statement I made. I don't think that AI could replace a Boeing 747 pilot. Similarly, no AI machinery can replace an accomplished violinist. It is foolish to think that AI can be a substitute for human brain.
I'm not entirely sure what you meant to say through your comment, but if I understood you correctly, you're saying AI can't replace the human brain and hence imagining it'll destroy humans is incorrect. You're very right. Let me add to what you said. It'll only accentuate humans and their music if there is an onslaught of AI into the world of music in the next few years. As a matter of fact, human-made music will be in huge demand and will sell at a premium, if that happens. Not just music, but any form of art. For that matter, Jerry sir's worry about this is misplaced.
While agreeing to a lot of what you said, I think your predictions about pilots getting replaced by AI might turn out to be incorrect. Sure, it will take a few decades but it's in the horizon - autopilot in airplane being a proof of its early stages. The reason is pilot's decisions are based on a set of rules, circumstances, intended outcomes and logic - something an advanced computing system can reproduce. Look at self driving cars - airlines are merely a more complex extension of it. On the complete contrary, things that are more on the creative spectrum (a musician creating a tune that matches the mood and lyrics, a violinist accompanying a singer, or a violinist playing manodharman) cannot easily be mimicked by machines because it's an outcome of broad-spectrum knowledge, intelligence and emotions, and applying those, that computers and AI aren't fully capable of emulating... Yet(!) Who knows what the future holds!
@@vinayachandranz My intention was not to reduce the possibility of AI but to highlight the border line where AI ceases to perform. A combination of a set of stored data when put to use become effective at times, equally ineffective situations arise when the stored data run short of a rational approach where it has to violate all the preset norms. When a fire hazard occurs, the situation demands an action that helps to put out the fire in a minimum possible time. Here the human intelligence act in such a way that it appears to be a nonsense by an AI powered system. Sometimes, that nonsensical action of the human intelligence works wonders. No AI powered foot baller can become a substitute for Maradona or Pele. I don't know the name of the bird - a migratory bird comes via cape of good hope to Rajasthan, catch it and squeeze it by using a lime squeezer and measure the calories contained in that juicy fluid. The (unit)number will be very small. The GPRS, the fuel, the navigation skills are controlled by the tiny brain of the bird. To accomplish this feat with minimal expenditure of energy - human brains has to wait for centuries to find an AI powered substitute for the tiny bird's brain. I am an atheist with a scientific temperament. I am not trying to belittle the possibilities of science. In our country almost all the window services a computerised but the heavy engineering still starve for basic automation. I see fully computerized reservation counters from where you can book ticket from Bombay to Calcutta at a location other than these two cities. But the highest speed of the train in our country is still less than 150km I think. The aircraft is not an AI generated system, it is the human intelligence powered invention. To put it in a nut shell AI is a memory backed system, a human brain can easily interfere and jeopardise even the best available AI system now. Do admit that my brain is inferior to an AI powered system. My qualification is MABF (appeared for matriculation but failed). Therefore, the post may contain lot of nonsense - sorry.

Your examples of stored data running short and computers' inability to break pre-existing norms - that is the limits of conventional computing (input data - > compute based on preset algorithms - > output results) . That's where machine learning augments systems. As storage and computing becomes cheaper and more powerful, systems capable of "self-adjusting" their algorithms based on more and more data has become increasingly feasible. That's the breakthrough from the conventional computing models.
