Vu was responsive when I had to change the motherboard after a lightning strike, but there was a slight delay in getting the parts. Sony TVs- not a good experience for me and for my friend in Kerala. Other brands like hisense, TCL - enikku direct experience illa. They do have a network. Hi bro, 1) I guess most of us would be using the OTT apps frequently for consuming content. Most of them provide updates regularly. Not sure if there are any other apps that you have in mind. I had a MI box which had android tv for almost 4-5 years. Last update improved the user interface.. even though not Google TV, but it matches improved interface. 2) TV Manufacturers are known for their laziness in providing software updates. The most fool proof way would be to buy a chrome cast device which would guarantee regular updates from Google TV. Vu service - i had only experience. When my motherboard went kaput during a lightning strike on tatasky dish. It took sometime for them to bring replacement. But i cant complaint either. Its working fine now for 2 years now after that replacement. Vu's quality has slightly decreased after the models i bought in 2016. LG will be little more better in terms of service. sorry, noticed your reply only now.

Agree, that color accuracy and reproduction will be a challenge for mid brands compared to LG, Samsung and Sony. Did you try lowering color contrast, gamma in settings before you sold?
