The unfortunate fact is that there is hardly anything in IIT. IITs are the best you can get in India. But they are nothing comparable to foreign universities. All it has is the demand value. Because of high population, people take part in this rat race. I urge parents not to put your kids under this extreme pressure. They are your loved ones.. I have 2 IIT degrees. Both (an Mtech and doctorate) from the best IITs in India. I have worked in the best computational facilities. Trust me, the professors there are no special. I have atleast 10-15 friends who are IIT profs. They are just like you and me. I could also have become one (with the qualifications I had), which I never tried. So kids, dont loose your hope if you dont crack IIT. IITs have more of demand value. Why I am telling this? I know the pressure of cracking those exams. I have cracked them. But the trauma remains in me. I am 37 now. Still I have nightmares about my competitive exams. IITs are not places where you find super intelligent kids. You can take it from me. They were just well trained for that exam. Once they get in, most of them unwind. They bunk classes booze and watch movies. Placements are mostly from top banks and corporations which has got nothing to do with Engg. So kids, if you can afford,go abroad if not from Btech, then from masters. Also study your subject well (in which ever college you enroll for your Btech). That is your career. IIT tag can fetch you a good starting point, It will never make your career. So love your subject and make career out of it. If you ask me now, I cant solve anything in my 12th Std physics or maths. Who cares?

Before 18 years, I too tried for IIT btech. i too failed miserably. But i was able to get very high rank in kerala engineering entrance and AIEEE (JEE MAIN) and passed out with nit btech.

Went for foundation class from 8th and went for a two year dedicated coaching for 11th and 12th (was at a coaching institute and not regular school classes) Did all the hard work for years still couldn't crack it. Am I dumb No? But neither am I at the level of my peers I met during my coaching days who cracked it. Point is simple, try it but don't make it your whole life. You're gonna get in if you're cut for it, hard work can only do so much. Don't ruin your mental health. I did, made it my whole life and it's been 8 years and I am still not over it.

Nice video. If the student is not interested to solve puzzles, it is better not to try. Here, preparation means problem solving. Had to start trigonometry in eighth and calculus in tenth. Try to find and solve as many problems as possible.

Please avoid herd mentality , no point in preparing for competitive exam untill and and unless we are really intersted ,everyone or majority want to become IITan because to get more respect from others
