What is the meaning of Bishop br. Lord called His disciples BROTHERS. John 20:17. He was our elder brother and first fruit in reserruction. Rom 8:29. We are His younger brothers. Bishop is another word used for elders in New testament. It is taken by Protestant Anglican churches to call the ruling ones above priests as Bishops. Bishop, elder, overseer, are synonyms of one noun Elder.Lord hated this Nicolaitans work in Rev 2:6. Nicos - one taking leader position, Laitans- liaty. Clergy liaty system.. Lord Jesus has only one purpose. To build His body in the universe which is locally expressed as local churches. They are the physical realm where all the members of His body are perfected - Ephe4: 12-21 to be one body. If we have an opportunity to go back to the past to meet Peter at the place where he gave His first speech and our normal disposition with today we ask him "Br Peter, which church do you attend? His reply will be " Dear br I do not know any other churches as we gather only as one church and that is the church of our Lord Jesus." Yes, eventually he was gathering in a house in one of the small allotments of Church in Jesrusalem at that time. Churches grew in number at the time of Paul and they called by the name of cities it belonged. Read Rev 2 & 3 also. But now Lord and Peter too, will be surprised to see the number of so called differently named churches lakhs of them all over the world which have teachings and speakings as they like from the Bible, deviate from the very purpose of God Gen 1: 26-27. How Lord can return to take His Bride to be the New Jerusalem, the one and only consummated body in the universe in the end. Rev 20,21. Let God enlighten you also to speak on this.
