A Non-Resident Indian (NRI) means an individual resident outside India who is a citizen of India or is an Overseas Citizen of India cardholder within the meaning of section 7(A) of the Citizenship Act, 1955. A resident can attain NRI status by staying overseas for more than 182 days. According to the Indian Government, Aadhaar Card is only for Indian Residents. For example, a US citizen also will become the Indian citizen when he or she resides in India for minimum 182 days in the current financial year then they also eligible to get an Aadhaar Card. Not only Indian citizens, anybody who is residing in India can apply for Aadhaar no i.e even citizen/nationals of any foreign country, OCIs or PIOs who are presently residing in India, can apply for Aadhaar card. The Aadhaar can be applied anywhere in India, irrespective of your native place or state. Even if you're holding an Aadhaar or applied for one it does not mean that you have received Indian citizenship. The Aadhaar number or card is not a proof of Indian citizenship, it is just a Unique number like US Social Security Number. The Aadhaar identity platform is one of the key pillars of the ‘Digital India’, wherein every resident of the country is provided with a unique identity. That's it.
All OCI card holders are holding faorein passports. They can get Adhar cards if they own properties with residence address in India. Channel person may check with External ministry.

ADHAR HAS NO VALIDITY PERIOD RESTRICTIONS , hence no EXPIRY and because of that again no need for renewal though the details on the card can be modified by application with sufficient proof to the modification sought.Modification can be for the PHOTO or Name change due to some specific reasons. Now think of a RESIDENT ADHAR HOLDER GOING TO USA ON GREEN CARD BUT SAY AFTER 10 YRS HE GETS American citizenship Then he takes OCI.whether anywhere the original ADHAR GETS CANCELLED ?( LIKE SURRENDER OF Indian citizenship by return of Indian passport to get OCI) HIS RATION CARD OR election Card etc may get negated by revision of Electoral lists or Ration card renewal periodically etc.BUT HOW AN ADHAR ALREADY ISSUED TO A RESIDENT GETS CANCELLED WHEN HIS STATUS CHANGES AS Non resident or OCI? His PERMANENT ADDRESS perhaps remains same even after leaving India permanently? SO the basic limitation of ADHAR has to be realised. Like OCI CARD obtained after huge expense to save cost of redtapism to get renew Indian Visa,Nobody can say what additional benefit ADHAR CAN GIVE TO NRI OR OCI?
OCI card holders can get aadhar card If you have copy of your OCI , Indian Driving License, Pan Card & Affidavit with your Indian Address and Photo with Notary Attested Document . They Accept it until now .
@@Abijith_AM.journey If You are holder of OCI Card you can submit your OCI as a proof to get Aadhar Card In addition to OCI you need these documents If you have copy of Indian Bank Account Passbook with Address and your Photo If you have Indian driving License If you have PAN Card A Self Affidavit with Your Photo and Indian Address with Notary attested You just have to go to Akshaya Center submit the documents and Enroll for Aadhaar Card
So how can i take adhar . I hold യൂസ് പാസ്പോർട്ട്.. if i need a phone, stay in a hotel they ask adhar card.. in this case india ഹസ് to change the rule. We can get phone service there and stay rental. Please explain

OCI holders can get Indian Driving License Only thing is that The Main Address on The License Will be your foreign Address and on Temp Address column they provide your Indian address For Mobile SIM card OCI card holders just have to give copy of Foreign Passport and OCI card copy when you arrive at the Airport
Why using very vague but confusing information.Just read appropriate sections in FEMA and compare with definition of NON RESIDENT And NOT ORDINARY RESIDENT in Indian Oncome tax act 1961.Nether OCI is a Citizen of INDIA or a ADHAR CARD HOLDER must be an Indian Citizen .ONLY. Adhar is only a CARD FOR IDENTIFICATION OF A PERSON who may also be a Citizen of other country but residing in INDIA for long or short term. Already too much confusion has been made by media and quasi Experts.
