• Israel’s army has continued to launch fierce attacks on various parts of Lebanon, killing 569 people and wounding 1,835 in a two-day assault, according to the Lebanese Health Ministry.
• In return, Hezbollah has fired a barrage of missiles at Israeli air bases and attacked a naval facility with drones, as world leaders at the UN General Assembly (UNGA) called for de-escalation.
• Speaking at the UNGA, US President Joe Biden called for a diplomatic solution as Israel continues to strike Beirut, warning against a “full-scale war”.
• Lebanon’s foreign minister said Biden’s address was “not strong, not promising”, adding that the US is the only country “that can really make a difference in the Middle East”.
• Israel’s UN envoy Danny Danon said his country is “open-minded” about ideas for de-escalating the conflict, saying Israel prefers a “diplomatic solution”.
• In Gaza, the Health Ministry has said at least 50 Palestinians were killed and dozens were wounded in various Israeli attacks on the besieged enclave over the latest 24-hour reporting period.
