18 വർഷങ്ങൾക്ക് മുമ്പ് കുടുംബമായി അമേരിക്കയിൽ കുടിയേറിയ ആളാണ്‌ ഞാൻ . ഭാര്യയുടെ കൂടപ്പിറപ്പാണ് സ്പോൺസർ ചെയ്തത് . അവരുടെ കൂടെ കൂടെ ഏകദേശം ഒരു വർഷം താമസിച്ചു . കൂടപ്പിറപ്പ് ആയിട്ടു കൂടി അവരുടെ കൂടെ താമസിച്ചപ്പോൾ ഉണ്ടായ അനുഭവങ്ങൾ എഴുതിയാൽ ഒരു പുസ്തകമാക്കാം . പിന്നീട് ഒരു ബേസ്മെൻ്റ് വാടകയ്ക്ക് എടുത്തത് താമസം മാറി . ആ വീട് ഒരു പാക്കിസ്ഥാൻ പൗരൻ്റെ ആയിരുന്നു .ആ മനുഷ്യൻ ഒരു ജേഷ്ട സഹോദരനെ പോലെ ആയിരുന്നു ഞങ്ങൾക്ക്. ഏഴു വർഷത്തോളം ഞങ്ങൾ അവിടെ താമസിച്ചു . പിന്നീട് സ്വന്തമായി വീട് വാങ്ങി..... അമേരിക്കയിലും കാനഡയിലും ഉള്ള നമ്മുടെ ആൾക്കാർക്ക് , അവർ നാട്ടിൽ വരുമ്പോൾ നമ്മൾ കാണുന്ന മുഖല്ല ഇവിടെ വരുമ്പോൾ കാണുന്നത്. ഒരു വത്യസ്ഥ സ്വഭാവം ആണ് . ഇവിടെ നമ്മുടെ ധാരാളം ആളുകൾക്ക് ഈ അനുഭവം ഉണ്ടിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. . സഹോദരങ്ങൾ തമ്മിൽ അടിയുണ്ടാക്കി പിരിഞ്ഞ സംഭവങ്ങൾ ധാരാളം . എങ്കിലും ഇപ്പോൾ ഞങ്ങൾ സന്തുഷ്ടരാണ് .ദൈവം ആരെയും കൈവിടില്ല എന്ന വിശ്വാസം. ഭാര്യയും മക്കളും കൊച്ചുമക്കളുമായി കഴിയുന്നു 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
ആദ്യം തന്നെ വീഡിയോ കാണാനും ഒരു കമന്റ് ഇടാനും കാണിച്ച അങ്ങയുടെ മനസിന് നന്ദി. സർ പറഞ്ഞ കാര്യങ്ങളോട് ഞാൻ പൂർണമായും യോജിക്കുന്നു. ഞങ്ങൾ ഇവിടെ PR ആയിട്ടാണ് വന്നത്. ഞങ്ങൾ ഏജൻസി വഴി ആണ് PR apply ചെയ്തത് അല്ലാതെ ആരുടേം സഹായം കൊണ്ടല്ല. നമ്മുടെ വിസ ശെരിയായപ്പോൾ ഇവരായിട്ടു നമ്മളെ അവരുടെ വീട്ടിൽ നില്ക്കാൻ വിളിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു. നമ്മൾ നാട്ടിൽ നിന്നും ഒരു അന്യനാട്ടിൽ വരുമ്പോൾ ഒരു മലയാളിയുടെ വീടാണല്ലോ എന്നതായിരുന്നു ഏറ്റവും വലിയ ആശ്വാസം. ഇവർ ഇങ്ങനെ പെരുമാറും എന്ന് ഒരിക്കലും കരുതിയില്ല. ഇല്ലെങ്കിൽ നമ്മുടെ ഏജൻസി വീട് ശെരിയാക്കി തന്നേനെ. ഒരു മാസം കൊണ്ട് വേറെ ഒരു ബേസ്‌മെന്റ് ലേക്ക് ഞങ്ങൾ മാറി. പക്ഷെ ആ ഒരു മാസം നമ്മളോട് അവർ പെരുമാറിയതും നമ്മൾക്ക് ഉണ്ടായ മാനസിക വിഷമവും ചിലർക്ക് കെട്ടുകഥ പോലെ തോന്നും. ഈ കാര്യങ്ങൾ ഒരിക്കലും വീഡിയോ ആക്കി ഷെയർ ചെയ്യണം എന്ന് കരുതിയതല്ല. എന്നാൽ ഇപ്പോളും ഇതേപോലെ ഉള്ളവർ ഉണ്ടെന്നു അറിഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ ആർക്കെങ്കിലും ഉപകാരപ്പെട്ടാലൊന്നു കരുതി ആണ് ഷെയർ ചെയ്തത്.

Yes true, we had accommodation from agency but this family insisted us to stay with them & as a newcomer we thought it would be better to stay with a malayali family. You are absolutely correct, better to find our own accommodation even if we had to face some initial struggles in a new place.

I live in Toronto. My personal opinion is to look for an appartment when you move to Canada for the first time. Coz, if you choose to live in a basement, you won't have many connections with the community other than the house owners. But, in the apartment you will have number of new-comer families to share your experiences and opportunities. I think, that was one of the best decisions I have made while we moved to Canada in 2015. Feels sorry to hear your story.
Yes, Jiby. That’s true. But most new people could not afford an apartment in the beginning ( no Job as a PR- while hunting for a job). They could get a basement for half the price & I think that’s why many choose a basement. Same with us. My friend is a microbiologist (MSc Microbiology ) used to work in one of the labs here. She came as PR and found job after. So that’s one option. His basement give for our stay was not suitable to live or ready to rent.His main intention was to get someone to do their house work & child care without any cost. Because to hire a maid here & day care is really expensive here. A newcomer might not have much knowledge so he tried to utilize that opportunity. Thanks a lot Bindu for leaving a comment. ❣️
