Beyond a great music conductor and violinist he impressed me as a noble character as well. Long live Mr Rex Isacc. In fact, only now I am hearing about him whereas I have heard of Emil Isac.
Great man, living legend. One of the leading violinist in south India, once upon a time. Salute him. Many preludes and interludes we heard in 70s, 80s, 90s, 20s in film music and church music were his contribution!! Great man!!
While I was learning Carnatic vocal at CAC Cochin, way back in 1977- '79, Rex master was the principal. He was a young man in his late twenties at that time. I used to listen to the ganamela rehearsals, which was done in the adjacent room of our class room, where I could find Rex teaching the subtle nuances of the song to the orchestra as well as the singers. Master is very articulate and has the capability to put across his ideas convincingly. Now Iam seeing after 45 years. Master's younger brother Illoy Isaacs was one year senior to me at St Albert's High School. Glad to know that you are an alumnus of St Albert's!!. More over I lived a stone's throw from your ancestral home at Pachalam. Wish you pink of health and joy sir!!!🙏🙏♥️♥️
I have heard a lot about Isaccs brothers. Being a guitar teacher and guitar maker currently working in Muscat,it has been a great feeling to hear from Rex sir!!. That's the reason why if while studying mayamalavagowla on the first day if a disciple ask the carnatic guru sir what's Mohanam, the guru will get angry and tell him you're not grown up so , you just study what I teach. But the western guru is ready to teach what he knows when the student wants. This is my experience.
