We migrated to Australia almost 30 years ago. At that time we hardly found Asians in supermarkets and elsewhere. However, the landscape and the demographic changed significantly as a result of Asian migrants over the past 15 years. When we came here to Australia, the migration were based on skills and most of them are professional in their respective fields. I have hardly seen Srilankan doing odd jobs in the area of fields you mentioned. Compared to Srilankans, other Asian nationalities have brought down the salaries dramatically and hardly enough to compete and demand high wages. I am not against migration but opening the doors to stimulate the economy with no limits was a big issue. Indians have already encroached the IT industry, I see the quality of their service is very poor. Think about the negatives too not promoting migration wholesale

Most of the things you said is true. But I beg to differ about your take on US/China trade war. First and foremost it was Trump who brought it up and since 2020 its Biden who has been in power and has been favorable to China. Unless you develop your own industries a country can't move forward. If you import everything from China where are the jobs going to be created in your home country. What Trump did was right. I remember very well my first laptop was a Dell laptop produced in America. That lasted for many years when laptop technology was in its infancy. And now everything is coming from China. You have to understand the reason why China has been able to produce mass scale is that there are no labor standards where even child labor is used, no alignment to any environmental protocols and main thing is there is no crazy climate change green policies in China. Hence their production cost is so low and they are able to dominate. Due to such unfair practices China is able to have an unfair advantage over other countries. World runs on energy and if the energy prices are high it effects the economy. Western countries have gone really mad with green policies. Australia they are cutting down coal power and going towards alternative energy. They export coal to China. Whether coal is used in China or Australia its the same thing as we are living under one planet. It doesnt make any sense. The main reason for the crisis around the globe was Covid, Ukraine war and the disastrous present Biden administration. Covid had a huge impact on small & medium sector enterprises. When there were lockdowns some of the big supermarkets were allowed to stay open and some of the small timers had to shutdown. So how on earth can a country's economy progress with such measures. I agree about your take on Politicians. Most of the politicians including in Sri Lanka are career politicians. Its high time there are people in high positions who has run a business or done a good job in their life get elected to these positions. Because you need practical knowledge when running a country & if you're a career politician who has been living off tax payer money all their life they don't have life experience in how to make a living. A lot will depend on the forthcoming election in US and that will have an impact in the rest of the globe.
