What I explain in this video is the minimum amount of funds you must show as per the IRCC website. But due to foreign exchange restrictions in Sri Lankan you may have to show more funds and pay tuition fees for at least one semester before applying for the study permit

Thanks. Here I talk about the minimum amount of funds you are required to show as per what is stated by the IRCC. But given the current economic situation in Sri Lanka, you may need to show more funds. Generally it is a good idea to show funds enough for two years tuition fees and one year living costs, if you can.

Thanks. I would in most cases yes. Because you need a letter from that person, documents to show their financial commitments (mortgage payments etc.) , their income and some document to prove your relationship to them. Such as a birth certificate along with their birth certificate, marriage certificate, some connection.

However, scope for funding for thesis based MBA student are very limited as it is considered a professional course. If you have a job offer your salary should act as proof of funds. But it is good to have at least $5000 CAD liquid cash as a settlement funds until you get your first salary

Hi, when we come to follow the causes like non eligibal PGWP, do we can stay in Canada by doing another cause or can extend the visa in another way.

You can start another course that is eligible for a PGWP and continue to stay on a study permit. You can change your visa to a work permit or apply for PR through another pathway. There is a new immigration pilot that actually allows this and I am planning to do my next video on that.

You’d have to show his financial commitments such as income, mortgages, loans etc. also you need to show some documentation to prove your relationship. If it’s a friend it is a bit difficult to prove this point as you won’t have any documents to prove your relationship.

Hi Akka will I be able to take my father as well on a visitor visa when I go on a study permit to Canada?

It depends. Sometimes he may be able to get a visitor visa to accompany you. But often times unless you are a minor a guardian or a parent is not required to be with you. So unless your dad can show family ties and all as proof that he will leave the country within a certain time, I’d say it would be risky apply for both your study permit and his visitor visa at the same time. Also you’d have to show more funds to support his visit.

Any program that you get admitted to as an international student (if you are eligible to apply for a study permit) makes your spouse eligible to apply for an open work permit

Hell,can I know whether the show money requirement changes according to the number of years that we study in Canada?if I am coming for a two year study program ,does the show money amount change?

The amounts mentioned in this video is the minimum amount you need to show to cover your living costs per year. But in addition to that you need to show your tuition fee payment as well. Generally if you are coming for two years it’s better if you can show one year living costs and at least one and half year tuition fees.

As you told we have to show 17000 canadian dollars for student, dependent and child apart from collage fee. but agents are telling for each person we have to show 12500 dollars so altogether 37500 dollars for 3 of us. which is the truth dear? please let me know

This is what is listed as the minimum amount required for living cost for a year as per the government of Canada immigration website. However, due to the economic situation in Sri Lanka it might be a good idea to show more funds when you apply for visas for your whole family. I have heard that it’s better if you can show two years courses fees plus living costs for a year.
