The hike begins in the mountain village of Jeizinen at 1,500 meters above sea level, which can be reached from Gampel by cable car. After some time, we reached the historic village of Engersch with its narrow main street and the charming wooden chalets laid out all around. This is followed by a steep descent towards Erschmatt. Via Obere Lichten you get to Brentjong above Leuk, which is mainly known for its satellite ground station and therefore catches the eye. In the 1970s, the station was considered a technical marvel. After the sale to a US company, suspicions arose that it was used for espionage. In addition to the current owner from Germany, the federal government also conducts intelligence activities here. At the end of the hike we descend along vineyards to the historic town of Leuk.
