Question: Why was the hinds not called in sooner? Did SLN underestimate the attack by the sea tigers or was missile threat a real worry? Hinds would have been a great force multiplier had they been used when there was daylight and much sooner. Terrible loss to have lost two vessels and many souls on board. Also not sure criticism of Athas is warranted. If any country there are investigative journalists and their job is to get the news to the public. And in the long term, it helps for people to know the truth so decisions are made based on facts and not propaganda. Granted it's a double edged sword but I believe its a much needed sword. Look at what great journalists/Whistleblowers like Edward Snowden, Julian Assange, Gideon Levy and Seymour Hersh. As critical they have been to their own governments eve, the large purpose they have served is beneficial in the long term. I don't know if Athas made money by selling secrets but having read his column on Sunday Times religiously those days, I didn't notice anything beyond regular journalism. As journalism exist in other countries during conflict.
