රම්බඩගල්ල බුද්ධ ප්‍රතිමා වහන්සේ | Rambadagalla Buddha Statue | 𝗦𝗿𝗶 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗸𝗮 | 𝗘𝗫𝗣𝗟𝗢𝗥𝗘 𝗪𝗜𝗧𝗛 𝗧𝗨𝗧𝗨 

Rambodagalla Buddha Statue is the largest rock carved Buddha statue in Sri Lanka. This statue is located in Monaragala Temple in Kurunegala district.
The main character behind the creation of this Buddha statue is the Ven. Egodamulla Amaramoli Thero, the chief incumbent of Vidyasagara Priven Vihara, Monaragala, Rambodagalla, Rideegama, Kurunegala.
After seeing the destruction of Bahamian Buddha Statues (Afghanistan 2001) by Taliban, Ven. Amaramoli thero determined to carve Buddha Statue with a giant granite rock in his temple premises.
Creation of this gigantic Buddha Statue was started in 13th September, 2003. Chief Artist of this creation is Mr. Padma Sri M Mutthaia Sthipathi, from India.
This 67.5 feet tall statue took more than a decade to complete and now become one of the prominent Buddhist temple in the region. This places is visited by hundreds of Sri Lankan Buddhist devotees daily.

රම්බොඩගල්ල බුද්ධ ප්‍රතිමාව ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ විශාලතම ගල් කැටයම් කළ බුද්ධ ප්‍රතිමාව වේ. මෙම පිළිමය කුරුණෑගල දිස්ත්‍රික්කයේ මොනරාගල විහාරස්ථානයේ පිහිටා ඇත.
මෙම බුද්ධ ප්‍රතිමාව නිර්මාණය කිරීම පිටුපස සිටින ප්‍රධාන චරිතය වන්නේ මොණරාගල, රම්බොඩගල්ල, රිදීගම, කුරුණෑගල විද්‍යාසාගර ප්‍රිවෙන් විහාරාධිපති පූජ්‍ය එගොඩමුල්ලේ අමරමෝලි හිමි.
තලෙයිබාන්වරුන් විසින් 2001 වර්ෂයේදී ඇෆ්ගනිස්ථානය බාමියන් බුද්ධ ප්‍රතිමා වහන්සේ විනාශ කිරීම දැකීමෙන් පසු, පූජ්‍ය අමරමෝලි හිමි තම විහාර භූමියේ යෝධ කළුගල් ගලකින් බුද්ධ ප්‍රතිමාවක් නෙළීමට අධිෂ්ඨාන කර ගත්හ.
මෙම දැවැන්ත බුද්ධ ප්‍රතිමාව නිර්මාණය කිරීම ආරම්භ කර ඇත්තේ 2003 සැප්තැම්බර් 13 වැනිදාය. මෙම නිර්මාණයේ ප්‍රධාන කලාකරුවා වන්නේ ඉන්දියාවේ පද්ම ශ්‍රී එම් මුත්තයියා ස්තිපති මහතාය.
අඩි 67.5 ක් උස මෙම ප්‍රතිමාව නිම කිරීමට දශකයකට වැඩි කාලයක් ගත වූ අතර දැන් එය කලාපයේ ප්‍රමුඛ බෞද්ධ විහාරස්ථානයක් බවට පත්ව ඇත. මෙම ස්ථානයට දිනකට ශ්‍රී ලාංකික බෞද්ධ බැතිමතුන් සිය ගණනක් පැමිණේ.
