This is a highly progressive decision by IMF. Actually, it should have been decided by SL officials, not IMF, Buy for sure our official and politicians will never cut down their benefit even the country's economy collapse again. This video does not properly discuss the figures, 225 nos should be considered with 25,000 doctors, 5000 engineers, and another 50,000 government servants were getting this citizen discrimination benefit for every 5 years, what a joke if we just talk only about 225. Let educated people properly....????
Government officials were given duty con permits and not duty free. Government got 60% to 75%of the duty. These were given because the government couldn't give internationally competitive salaries due to obvious reasons. If these permits are not given they are going to leave the country in a faster pace than now the end result will be in few years there will be a lack of doctors to work and the ones who stay here are left over. Then Sri lankans can get treatment from Peter brouver.
Yes then they have to pay competitive salaries. Otherwise doctors, professors and higher officials will leave. Either they have to stop free education and health or come up with a strategy to attract new people for these jobs.
First of all I would like to thank you for sharing good news. Could you please can you details about Foreign employees such a grants which used vehicles to bring home country without taxes.
No if's and but's ... this duty-free car permit crap should be stopped and cancelled altogether. The rich professionals and the politicians should pay the duty that is applicable to general public and equality should prevail in the society. I cannot understand as to why a selected and able class of people should be treated differently when the majority of public are reeling for day-to-day living
