Great discussion Bruno. I have a school for low income and marginalized community in Digana. I have proved at ground level most of what Dr Manodh said. English Education. We focus on the individual child recognizing skills, ability, likes, dislikes with discipline, manners, principals, values taking center stage. Starting from scratch in 2018 with preschool we have now reached Grade 4. Children of manual / factory workers etc are now talking in English. Too long to write here but our latest achievement, 8 of our children took part in an English literary festival by a UK affiliated inst. They had to perform alongside elite of Kandy. 6 got gold and 2 silver. 4 were selected for finals in Colombo which will be all Island. I would love to meet Dr Manodh and present our school to get his insight

i like this discussion , me as a vocational lecturer until 2022 Sri Lanka, i have given up all and came to Canada , my Masters in Colombo Uni, now I'm thinking my self what the dr saying right now 🙂

Great discussion. I have a suggestion for you all if you can bring for this pod cast Professor B.Nishantha in university of Colombo, this would be very fruitful. According to my memory he is the first proffesor in SL for eunterpreniourship.

good discussion, but the problem is most parents have a predetermined criteria about what their child should become based on their dreams and expectation that they as parents did not achieve or professional parents who expect their child to follow in their footsteps....not what the child likes to do...kids are under too much stress and expectation of the parents. Finally most people who do their job dont like their job, just doing it for the salary....i was lucky during my time to do what i liked...although even my parents did not understand the IT subject in the early 90s...

Entrepreneurship is the only way. It has to be on micro consortium mod. Unfortunately politicians will not like it as people will be occupied with their enterprise and will not have time to waste for political activities as well as go for the wrong education. Unfortunately people are made captive.
