This makes so much sense. The key point is the understanding of how suffering is generated in the mind/ body continuam through want/ not want drives at the 6 sense receptors in the mind and grasping onto them to become a sense of self. Buddha describes as to how these can be weakened and eliminated through consistent practice of sathipatttana, bodjanga dharma, etc like a hen which warms the egg, sitting on it and not checking the progress and spreading the kukul ganda, thereby understanding the process. While this process is weakened, if the sense drives are too strong momentary lapses can happen, but the practitioner knows it has happened and how and what to do to prevent in the future. The non stream entered has no such understanding, and even here it shows the understanding , not the good/ bad judgement adherence is the key to non reinforcement these drives and their final elimination.
