Derab woeser is not talking about maternity leave, she is referring to the timing of transfer and unavailability of child day care. As an employee she have full right to ask for a basic humanity from the organisation where she worked for more than a decade. Kindly consider your employee situation before transferring them to any random place. Her case is totally justifiable as she is with a baby who is not even 1 and instead of understanding her situation, sambhota so heartlessly made her leave her Job.

It's not about maternity leave.. it is about the place of transfer. She have small kid and she should not transfer where there is no nursery home .

VOA is totally misleading the video to different directions. She just didn’t spoke about maternity leave. She clearly said they are transferring her to the place where there was no day care available. Fact: both of my parents worked for Men-Tse-Khang for 20+ years back in the days and they get transfer every 2-3 years to different cities in India and they had to sacrificed leaving behind their kids in Tcv boarding school with paying monthly fees even being a Tibetan staff. We get to meet our parents once a year. Being away from parents from such a young age can effects their bonds.That’s it!

Derab Woeser’s video is nothing to do with CTA nor with maternity leave.she never denied the transfer, all she request was for a school with daycare for her baby. With grace and respect,she resign which every mother would do moreover, she never mention or blame CTA or any other organization. Derab Woeser la is not complaining about the maternity leave but if it is something to improve in our society then it should be discussed. she left her work due to their are transferring her to such school , which couldn’t provide a room and small children care , which makes a difficult for a single working mother. We need to support young mothers, who is trying to raise a child and work. If our community don’t support working mothers, most of young women will not have child. After working 13 years, she is suddenly transferred, it’s like the administration is punishing her for having a baby. Has anyone thought about who are the other teachers being transferred in her place.? May be she is also a mother of a baby or child. I understand that maternity leave is important but Derab Woeser wasn’t talking regarding maternity leave. She had to resign because of her employer had made a sudden transfer decision without her consent despite serving the school for many years. So she had no choice but to leave her job despite requesting to stay or transfer her to her choice of location since she is a mother of an infant.

It is basic that maternity leave is must in every workplace. US has 3 months of maternity leave and some places have 1 month paternity leave for fathers. Mothers atleast need 3 months maternity leave.

The CTA should bring change to the maternity program. If possible, the maternity policymaker should provide three months of maternity leave with a full salary. and then 50% of their salary for 12 months, so parents can take care of their babies well. CTA should design programs that encourage population growth, such as accessible childcare, and create an environment that facilitates work-life balance and reduces job insecurity for mothers.

Our Tibetan Society need more population but when it comes to giving a right they're lacking behind in many ways like woser incident, when it comes to job opportunities they prefer person who are bachelor or women who have grown up kids, and even parents are giving salary of cook,veggies, rations and also for gas cylinder that's for kindergarten and babies room. See our Tibetan govt (Sorry Im using Tibetan govt) they cant even provide one free meal. As compare to our generation children are very less still they cant effort the price of Gas Cylinder.

Maternity leave is being discussed here. Yes, 6 months ML then further required extra leave is permitted without pay for a working woman. And, this leave won’t solve the concern of one working mother. But, Is this antenatal and postnatal services available in Nepal? Is there any accessible Tibetan play school available for kids who are residing in Kathmandu, Nepal (Swoyambhu)? We consider children as Future seeds of tomorrow but due to lack of Tibetan play school, parents have to admit their growing kids in Nepali play school after paying good sum of money. Practically speaking, Really have to work on that, so that our kids will grow and develop in Tibetan community rather than only speaking and adapting other culture and language.

This was not a first time in our society, we have to solve the problem or system in a equal ways in our society, since now we have no maternity leave for few months like western countries. A Department or our administrative there was rules and regulations and according to that some times we have to face the problems under the law, we are not above the law and we have to follow or respect the law means under the boundaries of that law or charter.
