Residents in Rakhine province should know what is EEZ in international sea law Since 1982- What is EEZ ? Exclusive Economic Zone is full form of EEZ in UN sea law. The State or Nation has EEZ Nautical miles from base line to 200 NM or 350 NM. What is Base line ? Baseline starts from Low tide areas of the coastal land to Territorial sea ( 12 Nautical miles and Contiguous zone , 12 NM( 12 +12 = 24 NM ) and EEZ ( from base line to 200 NM up to 350 NM depending on Measurements of underwater Continental sea bed . International rules and Norms, * 1 Nautical mile is equal to 1.852 KM ( Land mile ). * Using Nautical mile also known as Knot is in Sea and Air Travels instead of Km per hour. * KM is used on land based Vehicles.( per hour of speed). * A Knot (a measurement of speed ) is equal to A Nautical mile or 1.852 km per hour or O.514 .meter per seconds that are using in Air forces, Commercial Air planes, Air travel schedules and All types of Aircrafts and Air trafficking control system as well as all types of Vessels and war ships,Commercial ships and boats in the world now . Note, they are Normal Aircrafts without 4th 5th,6th Fighter jets,Bombers and Drones have been fasting in Mach speed( 5 times faster than sound ) By the way, Rakhine Communities used to live at coastal areas in Myanmar or Bangladesh since ancient times. You need to understand what is EEZ ( Exclusive Economic Zone ) and what is meaning of EEZ and its Rights and Its Responsibility within International sea law and Maritime law.

What is Territorial sea ? # The Territorial sea is a rule of UN sea law . each state or Nation under the International sea law has Its Sovereignty and its economic Rights within 12 Nautical miles of the territorial water which Recognize as Territorial sea and The Teritorial sea starts from Base line to 12 NM of the sea.). It is called as Territorial sea in Doctrine of UN Sea law. All types of aircrafts and ships cannot enter into AirSpace or Sea Boundary ( Territorial Sea 12 NM) of any country without special permit. 2) What is Contiguous Zone ? # The Contiguous zone is a water area of 12 + 12 = 24 Nautical miles ( Territorial sea 12 + Contiguous zone 12 NM = 24 NM). It is called Contiguous Zone. If any international Aircraft or ship entered into air space and sea Areas of independent country except innocent passage , The country can charge on Aircraft or ship with commercial law and military law or fires missile on illegal intruder Fighter jets and war ships at ISA Office as defense actions of sovereignty of a state . ( ISA ( international sea Authority). The Country cannot charge or Shot Any Aircrafts beyond Contiguous Zone 24 Nautical miles ( Territorial sea 12 NM + Contiguous zone 12 NM = 24 NM) . It is known as International Air space outside of Contiguous zone ( beyond 24 NM) of any country ( state ) . The country cannot have power to control over Aircrafts outside 24 NM except Economic Rights and Conservative activities up to EEZ 200 NM. # 3) The EEZ ( Exclusive Economic zone ( from Territorial sea 12 ,Contiguous Zone 12,up to 200 NM. Any country within EEZ ( 200 NM or, more than 200vNM) can do commercial activities such as, fishing, Explore marine resources ( Natural gas,Shale gas, ,Crude Oils, Gold and metals within 200 NM and claims or owns if New island emerges within EEZ 200NM) etc . The Water areas outside of EEZ ( 200 NM) is Recognized as high sea ( international water or Continent shelf ) in international Sea law since 1982 etc. All types of ships can travel in high sea also known as continent shelf outside from EEZ ( 200 Nautical miles) of any country across the Globe. Any Coastal country can still able to get commercial activities in high sea( Continent shelf) ( outside EEZ 200 NM ) but Must apply or submit reports to International Sea Authority ( ISA) before it does any commercial activities in high sea ( international water.). It is UN sea law now.
