Ethiopian politicians avoid the religion variable in their political equation. The powers that be in Ethiopia are mainly Oromo protestants, and Oromo Muslims and Oromo Orthodox followers are deliberately kept at arm's length. Will there be conflicts among religious groups? What is the religious composition of Oromos? What is the political role of each group? Is there a fair distribution of power among these groups? There are many more questions that politicians are afraid to raise. One day, the fear and the avoidance of the issue may leave many open-mouthed, flabbergasted.
