The head of the Royal Government of Cambodia recently unveiled plans and visions for the development of infrastructure in the southern part of Phnom Penh, linked to Kandal province, as the population of the region continues to grow. In this sense, the government wants to refer to the current economic growth and after the completion of the construction of two major projects, Techo International Airport, Takhmao and Prek Chik Funan Techo.
This is according to the words of Samdech Prime Minister Hun Manet speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the twin flyovers at the intersection of Samdech Techo Hun Sen Blvd. and National Road 2 on the border of Phnom Penh and Kandal Province on June 17. 2024.
On that occasion, Samdech Prime Minister said that ជ Prek Chik Funan Techo and Techo International Airport, Takhmao City will create major economic activities in the south of Phnom Penh, including Takeo and Kandal provinces, expanding to the south of the capital. Phnom Penh has great potential and the people who live in Dangkor, Phnom Penh, Keo and Kandal provinces have great potential for future generations… therefore need to be well organized and developed.
It should be noted that so far, the area of ​​Phnom Penh has expanded to nearly 700,000 square kilometers and there are nearly 3 million people in Phnom Penh, both residents and workers, in which they use transportation. There are about 2 million motorcycles and cars.
Therefore, in order to address the traffic flow in Phnom Penh, which will be more busy, Samdech Thipdey asserted that first we need to consider the lack of parking by encouraging the private sector to invest more in modern parking lots, organized Public transport systems like those of the developed economies of the world, including the maintenance of public bus lanes, are also necessary, for Boeung Tumpun and 60-meter road area to be prepared as a green area by planting more trees. For a place for people to picnic and relax, but also do not forget to install security cameras, solar lights and automatic irrigation systems in public parks to make our city more attractive and luxurious, worthy of a smart city ASEAN.
