The song was a composition from the movie “Promat Promonk”: The song was sung where Vicharadany goes to the Buddhist temple carrying a food-case and flowers. She wears a Green-Kband and White blouse. Her husband, Tep Pol (Chea Yuthon) works in a garden, and he asks her a kiss She refuses and told him to shave off his beard. A brief story of the movie. A group of men were ordered by their prince to capture children to get a gallbladder to make the magical medicine. A noble man called Tep Pol (Chea Yuthon) who has magic powers. Because of his beard and body-build, he is a stronger man. A family lived in a remote house. One day Tep Pol meets a group of the prince’s soldier. They had a fight with Tep Pol, but the soldier finally defeated him. The word had spread to the prince, and the prince got angry and ordered his men to arrest him. A beautiful lady (Phoun Phavy) was a princess who wanted to rule the whole country. She has gathered an enormous army with gorgeous women and men. She and their minions use their considerable and natural attributes rule the country, and to get childrens’ gallbladder for their magical medicine. Phoun Phavy falls in love with Tep Pol. Because of her love for him, Tep Pol had to shave off his beard, and he suddenly lost his magical power and became weak. Vicharadany and her son were captured by the soldiers, and she got locked up in the underground palace, and her son got locked up with other children in a different place. Afterward, her son was able to escape from the castle. Tep Pol had escaped the palace and had rescue his wife from the underground castle. At the end of film, Tep Pol was rearrested and chained. Tep Pol’s beard has grown, and he gains powers. He fights back to get out and has released all prisoners; men, women and children from the underground castle.The movie had two songs. It was a very famous and excellent Khmer film ever made in the 20th century. The movie had also attracted many foreigners. The movie director had received lot of compliments. The movie showed in three movie theaters for a month and one week, and it still has crowds of people. The movie tickets had sold out for the first week. Based on the director, Mr. Doh Ra Hem, it took one year to shoot the complete film. It was an expensive movie to make as real soldiers were used, and a fort had to be built along a mountain in countryside. The movie was produced and directed by Mr. Doh Ra Hem, Baksey Thansur. The movie does not exist; it is considered a lost film due to the war. A brief story of this movie was written by Preah Vihear Khmer from the top of my head. I have an excellent memory of Khmer and Thai films from the 60’s thru 70’s.
