No, they are defending her because she is a person. Anyone who does art knows how meaningful it is to them, so for the world to rip apart the thing you care about so much, that hurts a lot.
Corruption: -She owns the company that held games for the Aussie Olympics to 'find' competitors. Ausbreakers. -Her own students were the competitors against their own teacher and 'owner' of the competitions -Her husband and apparently her own staff were the judges -She only advertised for one month and only to her own Ausbreakers social media and blog (its not 1998 anymore) -Her own comments in interviews clearly declared she had no anticipation of winning agajnst the higher skilled and complex difficulty her competition could offer. -She literally said it was some kind of goofy art piece to challenge and inspire. You dont see people moonwalk the 100m sprint to inspire and be called inspirational, your at the 'lympics to be judged and be the 'best'. Absolute disgrace. Pulling the misogynist card as well in interviews is laughable, she could pull out a hog bigger than anyone and she would still be a huge joke. Investigate her for corruption, fraud and nepotism. rant over
"There was an Oceania qualifier in which any B-boy or B-girl from Australia [or] New Zealand could enter, and that was in Sydney in October 2023," he told ABC News. "And leading up to that, there were a lot of other events in which breakers were competing. "She won those battles fair and square and won the qualification in Sydney. "And it wasn't really a surprise to anyone. "She's been fairly consistent, winning or coming second or third at a lot of breaking events in Australia for the last five to 10 years."
@@brianferris1 Yes, as a lecturer she could afford to travel to those events. Even Meares conceded that there were probably better breakers out there that couldn't afford to get to the qualifying events.
@@SofiA-nf7os Are you sad that all your fake indictments have failed? Are you sad your young would be assassin failed? Will you move to Canada when Trump wins this Fall? LMAO!!!!! :D
I do think hard training athletes wouldn't appreciate a person clowning around in an event. Imagine if everyone in the Olympics clowned around. She took the place of an Australian woman who might have taken it seriously.
Exactly!! This is not about sexism. I would have LOVED to have seen a serious Aussie female breakdancing. But she embarrassed everyone with this. So sad.
Apparently Her husband and herself were in the qualifying jury ...she actually took someone else place for a free holiday in Paris. Is not funny or a joke, the Australian authorities should look into the Olympic committee and their captain Anna Maeres who claim this joke of a woman did "very well" and that she was "the best female brake dancer in Australia" this smell of corruption
She attained a useless "Clayton's" pHD in "break dance culture"......... really! How useless is this woke degree? This degree is two levels below the intelligence required to perform finger painting.
First her studies were paid by tax dollars of aussies, second you are a "ballroom dancer" as you claim, stick to the ballroom, why the hell would you represent Australia in breakdancing on the top of everything the pathetic misogyny card.
Is she any good at ballroom dancing? It just seems, if you’re good at something then you would know if you were bad at something in the same advocation. Like a French chef knowing their Chinese cooking isn’t that hot, a penciller knowing they need work on their painting, etc. I think she’s good at networking.
She proved with her own example it was never gender discrimination but she was just bad at it. The other really talented and celebrated b-girls at the olympics didn't spend time writing thesis about discrimination but just got on with it to get better.
@@Jg758bIf she had made that statement and then NOT gone on to have embarrassed herself at the Olympics, that would have been fine. Sexism in sports, including breakdancing, is a highly important topic. But she brought shame not only to her country to to female break dancers everywhere by getting out there and doing literally nothing. This wasn’t bad because she’s a woman, it was bad because SHE is bad.
@@pierrecao4758That’s a pretty illogical mentality tho, one goofy fuck doesn’t represent a country. Most people are logical tho. So they are not laughing at her birthplace, as it has nothing to do with her “I got ants in mi pants” dance.
That one performance has shadowed those 53 medals and 18 gold. Those real athletes who have done nothing but trained for that moment was all for nothing letting this tricksster into your Olympic team. @@Kitxne
And all of Australia's gold medals were forgotten in an instant. THIS is the legacy of their campaign! May the other athletes feel free to 'thank' her.
If you are a PhD candidate searching for a research topic, here it is- how did this delusion go on for so long? This is a legendary case of “Emperor’s New Clothes”.
Breaking is the only type of dance that is appropriate for the Olympics because the main focus is on the acrobatics. If you look at a floor routine from a gymnast, you can see there is similarities in some of the figures. And I mean why not dancing ? Olympics already have shooting with guns has a sport. Dancing involves way more muscles and more cardio than this.
Out of all the Australian medals won, the only thing that people are going to remember is that performance. If I was those other athletes I would be annoyed that someone who didn't win is getting all the attention.
Someone should look into Anna Meares and the Olympic Australian authorities too, We demand an investigation on how Raygun got elected to represent Australia, Australian tax payers should ask for a refund of all that committee and Raygun spend in Paris!!!!!
I thought she must have been trolling but she has been refusing to answer any questions from the press when she's been spotted and she's apparently looking at suing people for making fun of her. I think she might not be self aware.
@@lobomalsano Of course there are, but so what? The fact that the Olympics is getting so dumbed down so that morons can compete makes it a farce anyway.
Many years ago, my publisher told me that a Hollywood production company was looking for an advisor on a niche area in which I was published. While being chosen would have been one heck of a nice accomplishment, I didn't want to do them a disservice and I directed them tot he true experts. This woman made it all about her, and put her before her nation. She's vile. +
I think she also said she had no intention of winning and my reaction was "then give it to someone who wants to win a gold and is actually good at it" 😅
You would seriously need to get your head examined. On the flip side, you could successfully argue with the ATO that "RayGun's" courses should be exempt from HECS as the degree attained would be "fictitious" at best and a malinvestment in time invested..
She's a leftist and all her student probably are. All the leftists on her account defending her and calling her a queen 😂😂😂. Leftism is a mental illness for real.
I admire her for showing the world that this should not be considered a sport. Dance is dance and has no need to be competitive. Dance is a joyful expression of life.
@@Azmania3000 ….seriously? Was the word biased used or mentioned at all with this dynamic? If not then this continues to illustrate the actual farce that the majority of this event has been 😑
@@Laura-tb7nm she’s a middle aged white women who dancing skills, as well as dress sense are so hilariously out of touch it’s embarrassing at an international level. She’s a stereotype. She’s also probably surrounded by nothing but sycophants and buttresses who don’t have it in them to say “yeah either train harder or just don’t go to the Olympics.”
@@artnos you're right that she has more ability than your average person. That really means nothing though when you're talking about Olympic level ability.
Umm, her degree says BA (Bachelor's of Art) and her abstract states her "work" is a thesis. Neither of these things has anything to do with a legitimate PhD degree or the dissertation required in fulfillment of that degree. Did she get "life credits" to satisfy the requirement of a Master's degree required to even apply for a legitimate PhD program? What a poor joke on the stage of what used to be the greatest competition in the world.
To be fair, they are doing a disservice to their own reporting credibility here by sharing only fragments of an academic career e.g. citing she has a PhD but also only showing her undergrad paper. Leads to too many questions and thus silly assumptions from the audience. And no one cares/takes her seriously enough to look into her actual academic history credibility, I could google it, but I’ve invested time into this comment instead lol.
You paid less than a cent, for there to be enough funding to allow her to compete. That amount changes nothing when it comes to your countries monitary stability.
@@claytonj001 Maybe. 😂 I see the news this morning is Peter “the flog-rag” Fitzsimmons has come out supporting her. I call a truce, she has now been adequately punished. 😂
Why are you celebrating someone who got 0-0-0 score? Why are you celebrating mediocrity? It's a total disgrace that she did this at the Olympic level. The slow of mind that clapped their hands because she "participated" are failing to comprehend the situation that she was in. This isn't a grade 4 sports day event. Truly pathetic.
I got more respect for J Attack the Bboy reppin Aus. Even though he only scored 2 points, at least he "tried" to make it look competitive against his opponents.
Even funnier that she was apparently the best female Australian breakdancer lmao. Just embarrassing for the Olympics committee and the entire country as a whole really.
She spent 2 minutes doing an impression of a kangaroo with a broken leg trying to get out of the path of a road train. It was as Aussie as you can get. She should at least score a box of snot blocks.
She has a degree and all she can do is wriggle about on the floor? BUT she makes it to the Olympics in Paris. She didn’t win the Gold but that achievement in itself IS pure gold!
Top break dancers are very impressive but this shouldn't be at the Olympics. I don't really like any of these "sports" that require judging being in there. It's too subjective and open for corruption.
@@mr_moo_mooyes there have been more than one scandal of gymnastics judging being rigged. Look it up. I agree with this commenter. But it’s hard to just do away with a sport like that just because of judging.
She took a place in the competition from other people that actually can break dance, ended all chances of breakdance to ever becoming an Olympic sport again and made a fool of herself, Australia and the Olympics.
This guy is wrong! Breaking is incredibly athletic and deserves a spot in the Olympics! It's this lady who should have never gotten past security! Let's not let her ruin it for the true athletics in Breaking Dancing, They were phenomenal! She should have been arrested for trying to impersonate talented people!
Apparently Raygun and her husband were in the jury to select via preliminary's who will go to Paris....she should have been arrested for scamming Australia
May she fade like fog on a sunny day. The horrifying thought though is they might have her write a book and make a movie of her life. Nah, god wouldn't be that unkind would he?
for now on every Halloween , everyone will dress as her and in every weeding someone drunk will do her routine on the dance floor...this will never be forgotten...sadly
Excuse me, what about the other Olympians who scored 0 or lost an event? Are people, countries, or the whole world angry and distraught with those "losers"? No. Spectators concentrate on the winners, instead of mocking others. It's called good sportsmanship.
Do people remember Eddie the Eagle? When you know you can't compete (which she knew and said herself) and you can get into the mindset of "dance like nobody is watching", in my book that's really admirable. I see it as a reminder that sometimes just enjoying yourself is all that matters and I feel like that's a pretty strong message too, even at the Olympics.
Breakdancing should be in the Olympics. No problem with it. It's very demanding and I have great respect for it. What Raygun does wasn't breakdancing as we know it.
I found Nick Kyrgios and Raygun are totally opposite! Even though both happen to be Aussie. While Kyrgios is a player of immense talents but chose to flush it down the toilet, Raygun is a talentless dancer who was somehow able to compete at the Olympics representing Australia!
I don't watch the olypics but I just had to tune in to watch Raygun and her Epileptic Seizures and she did not disappoint! LOL I spat out my coffee in the office laughing so hard, Thank you from Canada! The Olympics has really gone down the crap shoot with this shenanigan LOL
Given her thesis, she certainly just wanted to prove a point. And of course we have to be inclusive these days because lawsuits and cancel culture. Well, at least she will now have the conclusion to her thesis. Maybe that's why 'break-dancing is male dominated' if females like her take it as a joke and trash it like that! (quotes because I didn't research this statement and there are plenty of amazingly talented females in the industry)
I literally can not understand how people/trainers/judges let this get all the way to The Actual Olympics?? Like, what?!? Who told her she was ready for this??
Thanks for the light hearted spiel on her performance. It's nice to see ONE journo from Sky not taking this topic seriously!! Because Raygun and the surrounding furore and reporting has given me so many laughs lately it's been great therapy for the depression I feel about having absolutely nothing to watch on tv now the Olympics are over!! Australian tv - now THAT'S depressing and something worth taking to task. Raygun is a breath of fresh air in a world where everyone seems to be an expert at EVERYTHING except showing compassion to another human being.
Real breakdancing should actually be a sport. It’s intense. I don’t know what the hell Raygunn was doing and it seems the judges didn’t either. But that was not break dancing
Yes it should be in the Olympics - it requires hours upon hours of training- dance and strong power (ballet training , acrobats , and modern jazz) this girl got in with who she was ! Shame on the adjudication committee on the audition team !! She should be fined !!!!!
Someone should look into Anna Meares and the Olympic Australian authorities too, We demand an investigation on how Raygun got elected to represent Australia, Australian tax payers should ask for a refund of all that committee and Raygun spend in Paris!!!!!
I told my husband they had break dancing in the Olympics. He told me I must have miss heard that. I thought well maybe I did. WOW 🤦🏻♀️ never should be an Olympic sport…….
