Although the Supreme Court struck down President Joe Biden’s signature student loan forgiveness program in late June, his administration has found ways to cancel more than $48 billion in debt since then. The cancellations have come through existing federal student loan forgiveness programs, which are limited to specific categories of borrowers, such as public-sector workers, people defrauded by for-profit colleges, and borrowers who have paid for at least 20 years. These programs are separate from the rejected forgiveness plan, which would have canceled about $430 billion of the $1.6 trillion of outstanding federal student loan debt all at one time. So no, just a loophole.

Since the taxpayers will be ultimately funding the loan forgiveness along with our children, I think we ALL should be able to take the Tax Credit.

It's a little different than when we paid off our student loadns. There loans were preditory loans , and were then sold to other companies who changed the students extreme interest rates. The loans that are currently being paid out are very old loans and have run up so much interest they have doubled beyound the original amount borrowed. We can declare Bankruptcy on every loan except "Student Loans." ironically a billionaire can get released from all of their debt and a person with a student loan can not.

I got a college fund for my daughter when she was 5. By the time she was ready for college, there was enough in it for her to go 2 of the 4 years at the local university with the other 2 years at a JC. So that's what we did. She may have liked to go 4 years at some remote university, but even she didn't see the sense into going into debt. She was also getting a computer science degree instead of some useless major. So it's a slap in the face after going through all that to avoid college debt of our own, that now we have to pay for others irresponsibility. FJB FJB FJB FJB

I can’t retire because of this man. I struggle to make ends meet. I helped my kids thru school and taught them to takeout loans for only what they need. They all went to school in state and worked thru school so they didn’t have to take out massive loans. Each one went to school for something they could get jobs when they get out and have a future. I have a teacher a computer tech manager and a micro biology lab technician. All but one has their loans paid off and he is close to paying it off. Now you tell me I have to pay for some kid whose parents taught them nothing about finances and what it takes to get a job and responsibility.
