You have to remember Phil Gould is the major part the panthers are what they are and won in all four grades. Gould is now setting up pathways the same way at the Bulldogs. Not a bad move by Kikau.

@@DBASSDAN Kikau is 27, he'll be in his 30s before the Bulldogs are competitive. They'll potentially be a top 8 side in the near future but the culture Gus helped build at the Panthers just doesn't happen in a few years. Gus had a 5-year plan that took 7 years to actually work. I hope he's not but Kikau may well be out of the league by then.

@@DBASSDAN Very possibly, especially with their signings. But they won’t win it all, or even be in the running really. It’s kind of like the Sharks, they improved out of sight and were a great regular season team, but I don’t think anyone really believed they could win the comp. Not at all trying to put the dogs down; I think they’re heading in the right direction. It’s just the reality of how long a cultural rebuild takes. Penrith are a dynasty because of their systems in the lower grades, anyone gets injured they’ve got plenty of elite juniors who’ve played together for 5-10 years ready to go. Bulldogs can’t possibly have that yet unless there’s something I don’t know.
