There are two definitions for “weird”. In “Keep Austin Weird” or “Keep Portland Weird” it means alternative, zany, quirky, unconventional. It’s a positive word embraced by the people who chose to use it after being called it for so long by conservatives. In “MAGA is weird” it means your politics are so far from our own as to be unbelievable and creepy. Which is something each party has been saying about each other for decades, but especially since MAGA. MAGA calls us evil demons. (Also there are literally two types of definitions for the word “weird” in the dictionary.) I have friends who have a weird sense of humor, and I know people with weird hair and taste in clothes, but all of these people have morals; they don't lie, steal or cheat. What Trump and Vance have in common is a lack of scruples and character overlain with meanness. That they have no feelings of empathy with other people is very unsettling to me, and makes me think they have a chunk of their personality missing.
