One of the biggest expenses is security, not power generation. Of course, lower carbon tax with nuclear for the UN. It is all BS. Run coal power until they come on stream. Ontario is committed to building SMRs starting in the next few years. This is in addition to new reactors of conventional size. Formerly nuclear was 70% of the province's electricity mix, but no new reactors have been built for 30+ years, so their share isn't much more than 50% now. This is being addressed.

Germany shut down reactors as a panic response to Fukushima but are regretting that decision and considering restarting the reactors because they are buying mostly nuclear energy from neighbours at great expense.
