People who say he lied to his wife, don't undestand what it would have been like to have grown up as a gay person earlier on in Britain's history, with it being illegal to be gay until 1967, and homophobia still being strong during the 1980's and into the 1990's. Schofield would have 'absorbed by osmosis' that it was wrong to be gay, and internalised it so that he was arguably keeping a secret from himself as well.

Have People forgotten that the legal age of consent in the UK is 16, and yes it is legal for say a 17 year old to sexual date a 44 year old or older. The only times its illegal is when the elder person holds a position of authority. Personally I think it should be raised to 18 as when the legal age of consent was raised from 14 to 16 the school leaving age at the time was 13

If an older man meets a 12 yr old and waits till her 16th birthday stays just good friends while she is at school gets her a job on his show , takes her out and about to the point of gossip it would still be a grooming issue , any older man with a kid is sleazy, it's not like a 40 something dating a 25yr old ? The lad was in a school drama group star struck and befriended and poor phil didn't even realise he was gay until that lad was legal , yeah that's a good one hope they don't make it into a film 😂
