Thanks for reviewing this. Another book to add to the reading list. I've been looking for content on pagan theology for a while and struggled to find it, at least as compared to Abrahamic theology which, admittedly, has hundreds and hundreds of years of organised theological study and debate. I often wonder what a modern pagan theologian would be like, especially if they had been given the opportunity to engage in the same sort of debates that Christian apologists and prominent atheists tend to undertake. Would they have their own theodices etc? How would these differ?

The Asatru Edda and The Æfinrúnar books by The Norroena Society are also great reads on theology and practices. Based entirely on source materials.

Have you ever read Alain de Benoist’s book On Being A Pagan? If you are looking for actual theology, that’s what you are looking for.

I found that book seriously lacking authenticity. The Asatru Edda by The Norroena Society is much better.

De Benoist is a political thinker, not a genuine heathen although he might be sympathetic to it. The Noroenna society has valuable and proven experience with real heathen ritual and practice

@edgymandrill Pretty much what the other user said. Far too many works out there have a political flavor to them. A lot of stuff is also made up or, at best, assertions of an authors personal opinion on what he or she believes heathenry to be.

There are definitely elements of liberalism in heathenry, as well as allegories and parables. Not everything is an archetype or stand-in explanation for something.

@TheHiddenHistoryChannel Have you seen the Norroena Society youtube channel? Particularly a playlist they have on there called "The Mythological Schools of Thought"? I HIGHLY recommend you give some of those a watch if you haven't already done so.
