They're kind of just....around. What's really embarrassing is that some of Biden's biggest failures he overtly went out and announced that Kamala was going to fix. The specifically named Kamala his "border czar" and then we heard nothing else from her. She basically did nothing. Heck, she wasn't even willing to visit the border for several years.

They can absolutely run on the he same ticket, it would just guarantee a loss because the state of California’s electoral college votes couldn’t go to them. Now law prevents them running or winning, it only prevents their home state from casting electoral college votes for them.

Technically, that's not true. But in practical terms it is, since the elector can only vote for a ticket in which one of the candidates is not from his/her state. Of course, either candidate could move to another state prior to the election and then this rule would not matter. (George Bush and Cheney were both somewhat from TX but Cheney was also from WY, where he officially moved before the election.)
