I sale used cars for a living, people keep the EV's maybe 1-2 years and then trade them!. Every person who trades in the EV has a story about how unhappy they were with it. They are not practical for any kind of traveling! Driving around town, picking up kids from school, to work and back if not too far, that's all fine but traveling anywhere is out of the question! Too hard to find a charging station, lots of people in line and having to wait 2++hours. The Country is not ready for them and they are way to expensive! The values have dropped immensely because many have figured out it's just not worth it!

Electric cars preceded ICE cars. They went largely obsolete due to problems with the battery. The battery remains a big heavy costly problem. Net Zero is economically destructive delusional insanity. It needs to be abandoned and the most economical energy resources available need to be utilised.

I don't see that the problem is caused by a climate obsession, it seems more to me that the failure is in not promoting INEXPENSIVE climate friendly solutions. Elsewhere you can find $10k electric vehicles, made in Europe, India and China. Here those vehicles are blocked from entry, and in the meantime our manufacturers are only interested in making $35k-100k EVs. Frankly... at those prices they know where they can shove them, and go bankrupt doing it.
@MattBuild4
@MattBuild4 14 дней назад
In comparing the cost of climate impacts assuming BAU emissions nearly any net-zero emission plan is ASTRONOMICALLY inexpensive by comparison. $10 trillion seems like a lot, until you realize doing nothing for the next 50 years leads to $400+ trillion of expected damages - in that context $10 trillion no longer seems so bad
@nospamallowed4890
@nospamallowed4890 13 дней назад
The issue is not whether to do or not do something to minimize the climate impact. The issue is that US car manufacturers are milking it as an excuse instead of making the low cost EVs we need and want. AND they successfully blocked the import of those very EVs that we could be buying since they failed. If they don’t do their part you can't expect citizens to do theirs at 3-5 times the price.
@MattBuild4
@MattBuild4 13 дней назад
@@nospamallowed4890 EV transition is a part of the overall cost, but several magnitudes lower compared to what is needed in the overall energy industry. Furthermore the EV transition is more of a secondary option. The first and more impactful would be a systematic redevelopment of urban design, however given the complexities of changing urban design at scale with consideration for permitting it is widely theorized that you could not effectively complete such a transition in 50 years therefore EVs are a mor immediate half-measure solution to resolve the largest risks from an emission standpoint.

Look up AOC's campaign Mng. Interview about climate change and its true purpose
@MattBuild4
@MattBuild4 14 дней назад
I mean if your getting your information about climate plans, risk from climate change and engineering solutions from AOC - well thats your first problem. She does not have any background in really any of the fields of science nor any practical history of working in any industry related to solutions for climate plans or assessing climate risk. Whats truly sad is that you put more faith in AOC's beliefs than US National Labs that run exascale analysis on US infrastructure systems combined with over 100 major satellite systems in joint risk analysis meetings with NOAA, DOD, DHS and FEMA to test vulnerabilities of the US relative to climate disasters.
@SSB-8

@@SSB-8 Ok so why not instead support plans by institutions that actually know what theyre talking about and are extremely forthcoming about why they are supporting specific actions? @MattBuild4
@MattBuild4 13 дней назад
@@SSB-8 Full discolsure I dont support the political plans that have come out over the last decade in large part because they contradict the every study ive read on the topic of decarbonization plans. Especially those for the US. A major issue I have with the Biden's administration's plans and the GND to an extent is that these energy transitions grossly underappreciate the real cost and scale required for grid modernization necessary to sustain net-zero emission portfolios. Its honestly a joke what was allocated in the IRA and BIC. $74 billion is a lot of money yes, but for infrastructure and especially heavy civil infrastructure at continental scale..... its a joke. The US Electrical Grid spans 3.4 MILLION miles.... Over 60% of which was built over 50 years ago. 650,000 of this is transmission line, which per the EIA in 2019 the average market cost of transmission was $2.54 million per mile. At that cost (which assumes ZERO inflation, ZERO supply chain issues, ZERO wage increases, ZERO permitting issues) $74 billion gets you 800 miles. Its absolutely absurd to think that would be sufficient. It really makes you wonder who the administration actually talked to when they created these bills, considering the fact there are published publicly available cost estimates from energy managers, interconnection managers, independent system operators, engineering institutions, federal managers, international managers and US National Labs forecasting the net cost of grid modernization to sustain a net-zero position at $2-$2.5 TRILLION - you know just a bit off....

@@robertheinkel6225 I mean Thacker Pass has a massive amount of lithium. This single mining operation has an annual yield capacity that would single handidly 30X domestic production. Course its been stuck in regulatory purgatory since 2004...... I think Biden fast tracked it, which would be good PR for him, but it looks to be right back into federal lawsuits because neighboring populations want the non-contaminated rocks to be loaded and shipped out 600 miles across state lines instead of just spreading onsite.
