coming from someone that suffers from major anxiety/depression/panic attacks daily. each day is harder then the next for people like us and when ppl like this talk show put you down or dont get you, u start to resent the world only turning it in on yourself. Alot of people take their life because people dont seem to see/get their pain. So they have no one to talk to. THey dont see the signs . I can share something valuable to this almost nobody knows anything about. My father was abcent as well, but not as much as with this guy. (If this is real btw all of this seems like acting and weird body language if you ask me). Something people don't realize is that if a boy grows up with his mother and the father is abcent, this can cause the boy to resent the mother. Because the father is not present enough, the mother becomes TOO present for a boy. This causes damage to his male identity that every boy is looking for and this guy misses strongly. And then yes him saying ''you are my best friend ma''... your mother is not supposed to be your best friend... she is supposed to be your mother first, anything else second. So his father was not there for him. Even his mother was not there for him at times. And then the mother probably sees him as her ''best friend'' that she loves so much. His mother is the only source of love, and the only source of hurt at the same time. His mother is clearly emotionally fucked in the head (Reminds me of my own hurting mother). She is immature as shit.

I would say I am a functioning alcoholic but I’d lie if I say I go a day without a drink. I’ve had my own life problems & I don’t find it as an excuse but I get my peace when I get a drink & listen to music & podcast. Smoking used to be my thing but I need to stay clean for my career so that led to drinking. I say all that to say that I understand when you’re depressed it may lead to you finding things to take your mind off of it. I actually lost a friend of 20 years, two years ago to suicide. & we are only 28. From the outside looking in, it looks like life is going great. I live in a wealthy city, make good money, I take the gym very seriously but it’s what’s inside my mind that makes me feel like no one will understand. I totally empathize with this guy trying to talk to ppl who can’t even show sympathy

He needs intervention, certainly not by their methods, simply because it is not suitable for his condition. He recognises he has a problem but he blames his mom for giving him the opportunity/ access to alcohol in the first place. Can you drinking from the age of 13yrs? His brains his developing into at teenage, hormones, (fake friends) responsible for younger siblings? Not to mention his mom appears to be a heavy drinker but under control( just an opinion, I may be wrong) I believe understanding and recognising his mental state, show empathy will be the road to his recovery. If not,you will push him further away. It may sound strange but depression and substance misuse is sensitive situation and in order to get a positive outcome, you have to jump into their world unfortunately to understand things from their point of view.
