As a woman who has lost multiple friends over this trans issue and is terrified of speaking my mind out here with all these lunatics in a very blue part of New York, thank you Riley Gaines for being so brave and standing up for us. It is not easy.
They were never your friends. People that can’t stand diferentes opinions or are triggered by facts are not worth keeping around. Kudos for keeping your ground on this extreme and dangerous views. The lesbian feminist professor at the U of Mass, Janice Raymond, wrote her book, The Transsexual Empire, in 1979, calling out the danger of 'trans' to women. 'Trans' is misogynist and homophobic to its core.

I’m a Canadian woman who used to be an athlete. Riley is speaking out for me too! This is absolutely not about Riley trying to get clicks. She’s going to dental school, she is a woman using her brain and she doesn’t need social media money. Weird how we all find her authentic and Dylan and Lia inauthentic- but sure, it is the majority that are wrong. This new wave of trans aren’t trans at all (like they actually were 15 years ago) they are people in need of extreme therapy (not the gender affirming therapy- real therapy first), predators or misogynists. I feel so sorry for the very few real trans people because these new wave ones are incredibly disrespectful to them and their plight.
Riley Gaines speaks for me. I was a female athelete, I grew up having to play on boys teams (pre 10 years old aka under 11s), in a time when there was no female sports teams. I can tell you here and now, we had to fight just to create female teams. WE did the ground work. Trans people, do your own ground work. Make YOUR OWN TEAMS STOP STEALING OUR HARD FAUGHT FOR OPPORTUNITIES! Please. We went through enough to create our teams, make your own, don't steal our victory from us. I didn't get to compete on a professional level, but I saw those who came after me get to. I cheer for them everytime they play/represent our countries. Please. Make your own teams.
Bravo Samantha. The trouble is, women my age and below (I’m 28) don’t realise the ground that was paved by the women before us. We take female sports for granted. It doesn’t occur to us necessarily, that before women’s sports, we simply didn’t get to play at all. We weren’t there to witness what a hard won fight it was. May I ask what sports you played/fought for, and what timeframe you found yourself still having to ask for the opportunity to play as a woman/girl?

@@kiaraj.7809 They don't pose the same potential danger, but actual sexual assaults by biological males presenting as trans in women's locker rooms are non-existent as far as I know. It is more a matter of being uncomfortable with an opposite sex person in your locker room. In that way, it's the same issue - though oddly never even brought up. (By the way, a few years ago there were 2 female custodians cleaning the men's locker room at a health club; the police were called because the guys were so uncomfortable with it.)

Worked in the medical profession for 15 years. Biological differences b/w sexes that cannot be denied by any means. It is lunacy to think otherwise. Thank you to this brave young woman. If it didn't matter Caster would not have protested the rules.
That is what happens! the congress woman said let sporting bodies deal with this and when sporting bodies pass a judgement, an appeal is filed. Its such a ludacris situation.

It is a biological issue. Such a tragedy for women’s sports. Even Caitlyn Jenner has come out publicly that years and years after hormone therapy, she can still beat a girl anytime. This is from an olympic gold medalist who understands the sacrifices made to train your best. I understand that trans men are displaced in the sports scene. That is unfortunate for the decision they have decided to make for themselves. Maybe in the future they can find a way around it fairly. There would have been no need for segregating mens and womens sports if it did not matter biologically.
I did some research. Let us just work on statistics: Usain bolt is 9.58 seconds sa 100 meter. Fastest woman Elaine Thompson Herah is 10.54 seconds Mens world rank 2,618 is still at 10.33 mark So the lower ranking mens is still faster than the fastest woman alive.

I didn’t realize that Riley is the daughter of Brad Gaines. Brad is the wonderful man who was unfortunately on the other side of the Chucky Mullins “hit” in a 1980’s Ole Miss vs Vanderbilt game that left Chucky paralyzed. I’m 31, and cannot believe this is actually happening. Men are no match for us, their hormones make them bigger and stronger than us. I’m 5’4, my spouse is 5’11. I’ve never dated a man shorter or who’s weighed less than me. There are differences! I seen a video of Lia, and his shoulders are MASSIVE. It’s NOT discrimination if you’re not a biological woman. It’s so angering because people don’t believe there is an issue, when I’ve been with men my whole life and every single one is stronger, taller, and heavier than I am. 😡 Lia is NOT A WOMAN.

If I had to share a change/locker room with a man and be exposed to his genitals because in his warped mind he thinks he is a woman, I would scream my head off. Here's an idea: If you've ever competed in a male division, you can't switch to the female division, regardless of what you identify as after losing in the male competition. Will that solve everything? No, probably not. But at least we avoid this recent trend of failed male athletes claiming to be a woman so they can win something, and hopefully protect women in women's sports. Also worth noting you don't see women who identify as men wanting to join the male divisions, it's only men who aren't good enough for the male leagues trying to take over female sports where they might have a chance at winning.
As someone who is personally trying to give both sides of this argument a chance, I gotta say you are actually making pretty good points. Especially that last part you mention about how you rarely hear an issue of trying to take advantage of sports when it comes to females assigned at birth who transitioned into male, just mainly from the ones assigned-male-at-birth who are now women. It’s a sad situation how this turned out overall because yes trans folks deserve rights of course, but maybe there’s more to think about when it comes to fairness of sports like you were saying. I used to be super quick to get defensive for friends of mine, but I’m starting to get on board with the idea of perhaps suggesting a separate league for trans people so that they can still be athletes, but competing in similar other biological frames. Just before anyone calls me anything I’m actually LGBTQ so there’s no bigotry coming from me at all, but I just see your point and think there’s some issues that really need deeper consideration before letting run rampant. Esp what Lia did, it’s not right to get away with literally attacking someone the way Riley was held against her will in that room. People should be civil no matter what and Lia was flat out of hand. That proposal should definitely be adopted. As you say, it won't solve everything, since there will be brand new transgender entrants who did not previously compete in men's sports. They can also ban participants with testosterone above a certain level from women's sports. Just as steroid users are disqualified from certain men's sports. And as to your last paragraph, this means that girls/women who transition to boys/men will never be able to participate in competitive sports, even if they formerly competed in the girls/women category.

I'm with this all the way. While I served with the Navy, we trained from day one to change our physical prowess. Once you've pushed to achieve a 6 minute running mile, you'd hate to find out DC'S Barry Allen (The Flash) was actually real and competing against you while he was never enlisted. How lucky that Lia waited until post puberty to start transitions so “she” could still take advantage of having gone through male puberty. Riley is a great spokeswoman for this cause and I certainly do applaud her! There are many many women who have been hesitant to speak up on the incursion of men into women's spaces, sports, even prisons, but hearing from women like Riley will encourage more women to speak.

I agree that equal rights should exist. Both have a role in a stable society, you can not have one without the other. Growing up it was men played some sport and women played other sport, the slowly mixed sport came together. Some worked better than others, but I had a huge amount of fun teaching and being proud of female teammates playing in basketball and volleyball. A long time female friend spent hours coaching me in Netball(so opposite in some ways to basketball), and my an ex partner who got me playing Hockey with her(it made her happy, but I was far happier sitting on the side lines yelling encouragement to them and feeling proud of them all). My opinion it should be men vs men. Women vs women. A fun sub category of evenly matched sex comparable teams. And trans can compete in their own category. But psychotic lefts will not let that fly, because they have to destroy both sexes.
Let's not worry about the psychotic lefts but instead focus on advocating for trans to be included in their own Trans category. They've been denied inclusivity long enough, and we should be demanding that they get fair representation in all sports competitions
