The Marcoses loaned a lot money in order to build those infrastructures and some of those projects are unnecessary to build during those times. During those years philippines has experienced infrastructure boom and economic prosperity.. amongst the best in asia..however there were corruption and human rights abuses too because of his cronies and the fact that martial law has been implemented because of communist insurgency.... however came the 1980s the world experienced political crisis and people started to become dissatisfied because of the increasing prices and poverty rates so people ousted the marcoses on 1986.. however with the succeeding presidents after him.. the country got worst and was labeled the "sick man of asia" which have lasted for 30 years!...that's why alot of filipinos are working overseas.. that's why you see alot of slums and crime in the philippines.. the presidents that succeeded the marcoses did not continue on what the marcoses laid out before.. so that's why most filipinos love the son of the so called "dictator". They missed "the golden age" "the infrastructure boom" that have happened during marcos' time
