‘Murder Hornets’ Attack Officials Trying to Remove Nest

Another Asian Giant Hornet’s nest was found and eradicated in Washington State. It’s the first one to be found this year and officials say the hornets were not happy to see them. Last year the first nest of this invasive species, nicknamed the Murder Hornet, was found in October. Officials with the WSDA say the second nest was three times bigger and these bugs were ready to defend their home. Inside Edition Digital’s Mara Montalbano has more.

Little as a detail as it may seem, I feel proud of the idea that we have developed so far and wide as a species that we’re able to effectively trap and handle a conscious murder hornet long enough to attach tracking devices on it for the sole purpose of seeking a potential colony of them. The problem with this is, I used to work for Pratt Whitney a few years back and whenever we got shipments in from Japan for certain aircraft engine modules the containers would sometimes have a few either dead or partially dead giant hornets. It's a battle that being wage against quantity v quality where quantity will win even with public help the hornets just breed to quickly.
