Don't just count the veterans from post 9/11 Nicole. My father and uncles fought in WW2 and l lived through Vietnam. There are a lot of us still alive and remember and honor our military and will be voting for President Biden.
As a Veteran, this is one thing that gets me heated up more than anything. The disrespect of those that came before us that allowed us to have these freedoms MOST of us take for granted. Then to have someone who didn't serve ONE day in the military to talk s*** about Veterans or current soldiers angers me so much and this goes for those civilians that have not served who think they know what they are talking about.
We, meaning myself and those that have not served, are a huge part of the problem. We get too comfortable. I educate myself, vote, donate and volunteer. Most of all I appreciate you!
Same here, my father in law and his 3 brothers were on the beach at Normandy, they all came home. My brother did 2 tours in Vietnam and came home Injured, the love of my life was killed in Vietnam, all while DT lied about bone spurs to avoid Vietnam! He's a disgrace!

My father passed away in 2018 from complications stemming in Agent Orange exposure. The VA had denied his health problems had anything whatsoever to do with that until way late in his life.

I am also a lifelong republican until the obvious con-man ran in 2016 and then I voted libertarian for president and a straight republican ticket for the rest. After watching the republican party evolve into a bunch of boot lickers for Trump I have voted straight democratic since the 2018 midterms and I cant see myself EVER voting for a republican again since neither Liz Cheney nor Adam Kinzinger are on the ballot in my state. Growing up during the cold war I was always somewhat worried about the possibility of a nuclear exchange between the USA and the Soviets. I have never been as worried about our country's future as I am today.
Veterans are so important in a free and democratic country if for only one reason. The soldier above everyone else knows the true horrors of war, and carry those scars for us, and because they know the horrors we should never disregard or repeat them at a whim. And never ever should the one who commands them degrade their sacrifice and service.

I am always torn when I hear people like Scaramucci talking about Trump. On one hand, its good to hear former MAGA members come to their senses and speak truth to authoritarianism. On the other, I have to wonder where their senses were in 2016, 2017, 2018... when he was in power and making his attacks on veterans, law enforcement, the justice system, and Truth. Scaramucci said he loved Trump and would follow him anywhere. What did he see in him back then, and why has his views changed. Its not like Trump has changed in any way.
It's hard for me to feature it, as well. But I'm seeing that Republicans, across the board were raised that way and basically indoctrinated. Like religious people are. I was not taught what or how to think at all really, so I made up my own mind based in what I was seeing and experiencing. (The US was in a war, that was actually argued as not actually a war but a type of policing (laugably absurd) of Vietnam's civil war, and it was hard to see why. Nixon had the National Guard out killing children who protested it at Kent State in 1970... things came to light showing Nixon (following Kissinger's lead) doing war crimes essentially and then Watergate. Now I'm paying attention...)

President Obama visited troops at Marine Corps Base Hawaii, in Kaneohe Bay, every Christmas he was in office, from 2009 to 2016. President Obama traveled to Iraq in April 2009, just a few months after taking office. Trump was in office for almost 3 years before he visited our troops in a WarZone.
We all remember the time that djt and melania made a very top secret and dangerous trip into iraq to visit with soldiers for three hours for christmas in 2018. It was amazing.

I am a veteran and I support Biden & Democracy! Trump dodged his service thru a paid orthopedic surgeon by his father. His father avoided service, I don’t know how since my father was drafted Dec 5, 1941 and he served and was the same age. Trump’s grandfather left Germany to avoid serving, ran a bordello in the Yukon then went back to Germany where they kicked him out for not serving his military duty and illegally leaving the first time.

As a disabled veteran myself, veterans' issues are among the top of my issues. I have volunteered to campaign against sitting politicians who had no respect for me and my relatives. I am regularly surprised that there are any veterans among the MAGA base, but there are a lot of them. I know some of them. Perhaps it is a sense of self hatred.

My dad was in the 297th Engineers who were the first on Omaha Beach. I found this out while watching "Saving Private Ryan". My dad never talked about the war, which was common for WWII vets. While my husband and I were watching the beginning of the movie, my husband said, "That's what your dad did on Omaha Beach." I began to cry. He was also in The Battle of the Bulge, so when I heard Anthony Scaramucci speak of his uncle, it made me think, "I wonder if they knew each other?" I have been speaking of my dad's patriotism and fight against fascism since 2015 when I saw DJT. I can't imagine what my dad would be saying if he knew of how some Americans are embracing this man. At the time, my 89 year old FIL, stated that trump reminded him of Hitler. I want a free America for my children and grandchildren. I want my granddaughter to have the same rights I have had. I am praying this madman gets nowhere near the WH ever again. I am praying that the Republican Party goes back to being the party of law & order...although I don't think I can ever trust them again.
I agree, the only explaination is propaganda. it shows how effective it is to inundate people with messaging to the point they are triggered and emotional people have a harder time thinking critically.
