Maybe the sand will come back but in this video we can see erosion/ damage - very close to properties and trees ( would be good for example to talk to the owners..).
We are no longer in a drought we are having normal Kona Storm Winter weather typical to the 80’s and 90’s Kona winds bring waves to the south and west side and any large winter West Swell will do this on south and west facing shores… If you haven’t been here that long you have only experienced drought not normal winter weather
I remember being at the beach and putting a stick in the sand about 20 feet from were the water was coming in and going out then all of a sudden the water was trying to reach my stick in the sand maybe the water is doing that sounds weird but i think alot of people know what im trying to explain .and if thats the case the coast lines are in trouble
The state has decided to save the beaches deemed most economically viable to the tourism sector aka sand replenishment for Waikiki primarily. It’s not cheap to continue to maintain sand on actively eroding beaches around the entire chain of islands unfortunately and when you consider that over 80% of the beaches are eroding around just Oahu you begin to grasp the magnitude of the problem. On Maui they’ve built the resorts and condos too close to the shoreline and this is already presenting challenges to maintain the aesthetic. It’s pretty depressing to talk about it much less see it happening in real time. Retreating from the beach honestly is the only other option. Every other solution is short term and expensive given the state of sea level rise w/ the climatic change we’re all experiencing on this planet.
Sea levels _are_ clearly rising. They've risen six to ten inches over the past 120 years, and the main reason is human-caused global warming; partly due to water melting from snow/icepack on land masses, and partly due to thermal expansion of the water itself. Global warming is also generally leading to an increase in storm intensity/severity, as there's more energy and water vapor in the atmosphere.
Both main US parties are ultimately responsible for the U.S.'s insufficient efforts to curb global warming, but the Republican party is the one that's actively encouraging those denying that it's even happening, so they're arguably worse on this topic.
US Army directed energy weapons test program is run out of their base in Kawaii. They utilize both UAV and drones as weapons platforms. These were deployed against Lahaina in Maui. The targeting system for these weapons use visual wavelength sensing to operate autonomously. If the target cone volume returns energy in the aquamarine to midnight blue frequency range the power to the FIRE COMMAND circuits is disabled. This is done so that a UAV or drone can be deployed in enemy controlled area and set to AUTO mode. They do not want to waste time and onboard resources striking water or pointing into the air.
