The lady expressed a view that the majority of Australians agree with. No one should be made to feel ashamed for being a white multi generational Australian.
I applaud that woman for speaking her own mind! If the PM can let terrorists into this country, she has a right to say what she thinks without being demonized for it!

I was shocked when I visited Sydney recently, in that the eastern Asian culture was the dominant one. Very few (if any) white people, except in the outback.
@@grahamcroucher5251 yep it’s been happening since the nineties and in the last twenty years thousands of Indians and Nepalese have immigrated to Australia. The neighbourhood that I grew up in , went from being predominantly white to Korean and Chinese in a space of three years. That was when I left Australia in 93 , came back in 96 to find myself a foreigner in my own neighbourhood

@@SimonRoszkowski Are you special needs. Mabo, was the recognition of Aboriginal land rights, what has that got to do with Multiculturalism ? I mean, they are the first Australians, how do you think they feel about your ancestors coming to thier land ? Oh, and how has immigration it worked, are you ignorant or stupid. Since WW2, immigrants have grown, propelled and built the Australia of today. You must have read of the post WW2, " populate or perish " era, where immigrants came from Italy, Greece and other parts of Europe. to build and expand the Australian economy. Any economic woes of Australia today, are the result of the elite (1%) adherence to Neo-Liberalism ( look it up Einstein). Neo-Liberalism, is seen in the followng policies. - Lowering of taxes for the wealthy. Have a look at how capital ( of the wealthy) is taxed, compared to wages and salaries. You'll be surprised. - Housing Prices, which have effectively blocked young Australians from entering the housing market, have been boosted by the combination of negative gearing and 50% Capital gains tax concession ( brought in by Howard, again a wealth tax reduced in half) - Cost of living, price gouging by Coles and Woollies, who own effectively 65% of the market. A duopoly, which the government has been lax to reform or regulate. You are like any simpleton, looking to scapegoat immigrants for your own perceived woes of Australia today. As President Clinton once said, its the economy stupid. Next time make sure your carer knows your on the computer.
a real aussie is an indigenous person. see how they're melanated? that's the status quo of this country and region. it's a hot climate. pale people came from somewhere cold.
She was brave and honest to ask this question however you are in an ABC studio so you are not going to get a fair hearing! Australians need to wake up to reality and you most definitely won’t find it with the ABC!
difference is wypipo indigenous to europe. they're not indigenous to asia-pacific region and australia. it's hot round these parts and wypipo came from the cold.
@@EllaKelly-nq3qp No you're hear to support, a lovely old lady who lives in a bubble, and appears to be ignorant of the make up of Australia, which, is made up of immigrants, from the first boat, to the most recent plane. What you can't do is back up her claims are somehow true, with Empirical Evidence, particularly as they are just her narrow minded, ignorant and childish opinions on the view of Australia.
The problem is when newcomers bring their outdated ways here & expect us to adapt to the ways of their culture. How many of these people will defend this country if we are invaded by Indonesia for example?
Going to school in the 50's & 60's , we were taught to love our country (& by extension, English heritage) & our flag. We were taught to be resilient, to think for ourselves & mostly important., to question ourselves. Ok, maybe things sometimes were a bit harder, but I am saddened & disheartened to see what my 9 year old grand daughter is subjected to daily. There is still bullying, sexual harassment & now she is supposed to be ashamed she is white! The flags at school are not treated with respect - I have seen them lowered by students, bundled up & shoved in a basket. This country is no longer the lucky country.
We are bending over backwards to help immigrants giving them housing what about us traditional white Australians oh that’s right we are racist for thinking and about our way of life
She’s right, why should you made to feel bad for your culture. I’m married to some one from Asia, she isn’t divisive like certain cultures that live in say Lakemba. God forbid we’re we get the stage where we get arrested for flying the Australian flag, we should be celebrating what was achieved in Australia, by majority from the Anglo-Celtic heritage.
remember when the protestants used to discriminate against irish catholics? why are wypipo so obsessed with Us vs. Them? You do this to every group that comes to australia.
Multiculturalism didn't work in.. Yugoslavia USSR Burma India Pakistan Bangladesh Nigeria Somalia Sudan Shall I go on? Yet somehow it's going to be all right in the West.
Captain Cook was a working class boy made good. He was the best cartographer who ever lived. His map of the Saint Lawrence River helped the British conquer the french and claim Canada. His other maps made sailing safer and undoubtedly saved thousands of lives.
Thank you Paul for bringing this up. It is a very important point to be raise. This lady was 100% spot on. Where I grew up in Brisbane in high school we had one asian student that I can remember. Now my suburb and everyother suburb around it are now all asian, as is my old high school. My personal beliefs are that these people are not assilimlating into our community but transferring their community and beliefs into ours. I saw the same in Sydney when I was in the Army. Suburbs where there was not one sign in english. How is this a multi-cultural society. It is people from other countries setting up their country here fullstop. Migration needs to be stopped. I do not believe this is the case for all migrants but it seems to becoming the norm. How many people are we going to allow to come here from Gaza and how long will it be till we have another October 7 here in Australia. The worst thing about this what do we have to defend ourselves. When they made the Brisbane line in WW2 they did so knowing that just about every household had a rifle in the house and could defend themselves. The governments have taken this away from us, again for some good reasons but if October 7 comes here what do we have to defend ourselves with - kitchen knives and sticks. The governement needs to wake up and ban all visa's from Gaza fullstop. Also look at who is causing the most problems for the police with drugs, tobacco etc, and all the assassinations that seen to be on the news almost everyday. Most of them seem to middle eastern. Wake up Australian government, if I'm a normal Australian who is also a veteran can see this why the hell cant you!!!!!!!!!!!!
What she says is true. There has never been any permission given through a referendum on immigration. Rather there has been an imposition on the nation of a idea that anyone from anywhere should and may come to Australia. It is natural that like attracts like and anyone else is an opportunist or displacer. The Australia I knew in the 1960's and 1970's was a far more united and integrated. On a person to person level everyone deserves respect and difference is curious however on the level of group ethnicity I do not agree with immigration from nations of high populations that use immigration as influence. China, India and Africa are particularly able to change other nations ethnic makeup very easily. I think similarity is key to integration and low numbers of immigration. We are seeing ghettos form and it is very hard for husbands and wives with different cultures, ethnicity and beliefs/values , religion/ ideology to form and keep relationship. Nations must be built on commonalities even if there is regional differences. Australia needs stability and must perpetuate itself through families and children...not ethnic displacement.
No, she’s not racist, just a simpleton and ignorant. Oh and she offers no evidence multiculturalism has failed, and an anecodote about her kids proves nothing.
I can only speak from a Canadian point of view but up until the late 1990 earlt 2000 are multicultural country had some small assimilation factor now that does not seem to exist any more, and it’s born Canadians who are required to adapt or be labelled as an ist ism or phobe to the new "Canadians". That lady was correct, her question was not racist, but then speaking truth well often get you labelled.
It's to far left leaning... journalism use to find out the facts and truths not pick sides and agendas including sky news. But I thought that was a fair question that lady asked.
@@Hannah-201 yes mate Tony Jones... at least back then they were truly diverse, diversity meant diversity of ideas where merit was ascribed to ideas that were supported with evidence when it came to invited panelists! Contrast to today where they merely claim to be 'diverse' & diversity simply means meeting some race, gender quota. During Tony's tenure we had the likes of Christopher Hitchens, Richard Dawkins...etc. God what I wouldn't give to have Hitch level his trademark criticism at what is going on in our Western societies & the middle east!!
When you have the likes of that wasted space, Senator Steele-Johns say that committing crimes like spray painting our war memorials is a legitimate form of freedom of speech is why this question is asked. Of course her fears are realistic, look at the examples she cited as well as the annual attack on Australia day and some who choose to ignore ANZAC day.
Most people do not really understand exactly what Multiculturalism actually is, It is not merely about multi ethnicity and race , the problem arises when incompatible cultures do not respect the culture and obey the laws of their new "host" nation. Some degree of assimilation and respect by the "newcomers" is vital .
We are a “multi ethnic” society. There is only one culture, and that is Australian culture. Live by our standards and expectations or find somewhere else that reflects your ideals. Simple really.
People who enjoy living a lie hate hearing the truth spoken out loud for everyone to hear. You’ll see them gang up and scream down someone brave enough to call it like it is.
Good on you lovely lady. You are right. Thank you for asking the question. I don't know the outcome of your question but I fear voicing this question on this left wing program was met with disdain, horror and ridicule.
Countries were created by people of the same culture. We not all like the same. Keep countries countries. You enter a country new to you, respect who was there before you.
We've imported a lot of primitive third-world rasists into Australia over the last few decades. Coupled with the disease of neo-marxism that has infltrated our bureaucracies, this combination spells distaster for Australia. Highlighted here with this clip of the activities of publically funded Q&A.
@@normanmazlin6741 Really, what's "rasists" mean ? So, you know, those in glass houses. "Now, to your " rasists " of the third world, is that different to first world racists ? As for Neo-Marxism, please explain ? However, you being so brilliant, must acknowledge the real ideology which has had a major impact on the economic and political policies of West over the last 50 years: Neo-Liberalism. So, the ills of income equality, deregulation and the rise of the financial services and multi national corporations, has done more to degrade the lives of the average Joe, than any, made up Neo-Marxist influence on the western world. @@SunnyBoyy448 From my mums womb, at a Hospital in Carlton, Melbourne, Victoria and Australia. I mean I think that makes me an Aussie. What's your definition ?
Multicultural society has its limits. Many cultures have come to Australia, melded/integrated into the existing/predominant culture and we are all the better for it. Multiple cultures can happily coexist and enrich each other. The issue is when an imported culture has an aspect that clashes with the norms and standards of Australian society. When these clashes arise, the Australian culture MUST prevail. If it doesn't, our culture is slowly eroded and eventually will no longer exist. The problem with Multiculturalism is the incoming cultures are given the same weight and importance as our existing culture and consequently the Aussie values and way of life are slowly being replaced.
@@SunnyBoyy448 really, Arian culture, you mean a certain religious view of God. Hang on less than 44% of Australians are Christian ? Oh, I cam from my mothers womb, in a Hospital in Carlton Melbourne Victoria, Australia,

it is not racist to want to hold onto your culture. We encourage the 'new Australians' to retain their cultural independence and practice the traditions that are meaningful to them, however, in Australia to accommodate diversity we 've started to deny the historical culture of our own country. that is - the Easter Weekend, Christmas Day, and many more. I recall attending a cultural awareness day thinking that i would be exposed to Aboriginal cutllure- but it was run by a Maori and focussed on the maori experience of racism in NZ and then a bit of a bleed about the local 'discrimination' yet try living in a town like Kalgoorlie where the Maoris tend to hang in pockets. In the 80s i recall the local Maoris i met in Qld were really friendly and would invite non Maori to hungis (spelling is probably wrong). what we are doing (and where I believe the problems lie) is creating a cultural minority in our own country. Our Aboriginal people should be our first priority before all the other cultures. then don't forget that historically Australia was NOT just British and Irish, there were Gemans and other Europeans who were past of the first colonists, Chinese were represented. Australia developed a beautiful comradeship from colonisation. it took a while (don't forget we were sectarian - Irish /English, Catholic /Proddie). Our ancestors were survivors that battled the odds and the 'new aussies' have come in and reaped the benefits and now its a case of running ramshod over the Aussie traditions and developed culture. there was a time when Aussies were respected as being hard workers, and 'backbone' solid people, solid folk and now we have a bunch of entitled whiners. Multiculturalism has not helped this because they did not understand Aussie humour. This includes modern English immigrants who get upset and offended when called a 'nob'. Name calling is almost a term of endearment for Aussies. when we travel anywhere we have to flex to fit in with the locals not the other way around. Go to Bali they have no idea why Australia allows visitors to dictate to us.. or new immigrants. it is beyond their logic. They of course have the 'cultural police' to allow them to retain the values of the locals.
I think that if we are going to have this conversation. Using terms like racist doesn’t help anyone, wether you think multiculturalism is a good thing or not. The other side has to understand that even though there are good things that come out of multiculturalism , there are definitely bad things. Not every country holds our values or thinks the same as we do .wether it’s culturally, or religiously ,if we import to many people with these values we will lose our cultural values, that is a fact. Britain is the case study for this. A country without a good immigration and assimilation policy will not have a the same country anymore
This reminds me so much of the atmosphere that developed in my home country when we fought for sovereignty back in the 90' and 60'.. the reproach was that independence in this new world is spun as eugenics and racism.. but the ethics broke the government's vision
It's like making mayonnaise. Eggs are OK. Oil is OK. Oil mixed into egg as mayo is great - but the oil has to be drizzled in, to allow the time for the emulisification to happen. Pour in the oil too fast, and the mix splits, and is very hard to recover from that point.
Good on that lady. What she said should not be shocking if you honestly observe the communication from almost every outlet, who are in near total agreement with each other. Her question would not be “shocking” if there weren’t a marxlst, forced dogma at play which she is “transgressing”, simply by explaining reality.
@@simgrmehmej8075 Obviously there is, because I have 4 kids who are 24-32, and never did they come home, crying that multiculturalism was being shoved done their throat. As for beating up the white guy, um, when and where is that happening. I mean in my line of work us white guys are doing fine. Oh, and please explain how Marxism intercepts with the real ideology of the past 50 years, Neo-Liberalism, which has infected our economics and politics. Neo-Liberalism, which is responsible for the increasing wealth and income inequality, the rise of the multinational corporations, tech monopolies, the rise of the financial sector industry, deregulation , climate denial. All of which means the next generation a future of lower wages, massive mortgages and climate uncertainty, or in short, will be poorer than our generation. Multiculturalism doesn't do that, Neo-Liberalism does that.
