US President Joe Biden was blasted online after the story of his uncle "Bosie" being eaten by cannibals was debunked.
According to Biden, his uncle Ambrose Finnegan "Bosie", died after his plane crashed in an area close to New Guinea during World War 2.
The oldest-ever sitting president was labelled a “liar” for telling a “made-up story”.
“Just another complete lie by Biden to make himself seem more interesting than he is,” wrote one user.
The truth of the story came out during a flight on the president’s plane, Air Force One.
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre stated Biden was just “incredibly proud” of his uncle when he told the fabricated story.
“You saw the president; he was incredibly proud of his uncle’s service in uniform. You saw him at the War Memorial. It was incredibly emotional and important to him, she said.
