‘Take 10 Years To Rebuild Britain After Being WRECKED By Tories’ | Jeremy Hunt SLAMMED

Talk’s Alex Phillips is joined by former adviser to Tony Blair, John McTernan, as Jeremy Hunt insists the tax burden would go down under a future Conservative government.
He also claimed Labour’s economic plans would lead to tax rises and accused the Opposition of attempting to scare pensioners with lies about national insurance.
John hits out at the Chancellor’s “ludicrous stunt”, saying “cutting taxes hasn’t shifted the needle” for the Tories.

UK privatisation has primarily made money for foreign governments - and their citizens. EU membership, clearly, does not prevent you having a state-owned national railway company. This is because the UK is the only major member state where one of these doesn't operate the vast majority of services.

Even if it did come back, jobs would not. Companies don't relocate to export jobs, they relocate to eliminate them The classic example is the 12,000 employee single product car line in Detroit which became a 1400 employee car line in Sonora producing twice as many units, encompassing a wide model range. Chinese factory workers are slightly more expensive overall than American or British ones (wages are lower but accommodation and food are provided), but China wins on heavy automation and extremely good logistics

The only 'net zero' we should be focused on is from the amount of money which leaves this country through foreign businesses in telecommunications, energy, rail, tech and government contracts. It's a lot harder to run a country well, than to be a grifter lining your own pocket and giving tens of billions of pounds to your mates on the flimsiest of pretexts The thing about con artists is that they may be able to convince a hard core of suckers that they're "responsible businessmen" but the rest of the country eventually sees through it - hence why the country is heavily gerrymandered and why the Conservatives are terrified of a decent proportional representation system ("We'd never get into power again" - as one tory speaker openly and bluntly stated at a conference) England and Wales are about to suffer contractions in the rural sector even more extreme than the results of the Enclosure Acts - The departure of Britain from Brussels allowed the EU to remove the import tariffs and quota restrictions which made it a captive market and British farmers now have to compete with _unsubsidised_ AU/NZ producers with wheatfields and sheep farms ranging from the size of an English County up to the size of Switzerland - both on sales onto the EU _and_ on a domestic market where retail-packed New Zealand lamb (of better than Welsh quality) can be landed at Tilbury for less than the farm gate price of such lamb (Welsh or otherwise), with a total carbon cost less than half of British product when on supermarket shelves. That's entirely self-inflicted and the same areas which are Conservative voting heartland are going to be hit hardest and longest by their own poor decisions, facilitated by a bunch of spivs, chances and grifters in Westminster. Perhaps they may finally realise the Conservatives are _not_ the farmers friends after all
