The outrage of Zoe Saldana playing Nina Simone was shocking and insulting because Nina Simone was a dark-skinned woman and Zoe Saldana is, obviously, the opposite. No, the appearance of an actor/actress portraying a certain person is not *the* most important, but it would have been nice to see a dark-skinned actress portray Nina Simone since dark-skinned female actresses are disproportionately represented in the entertainment industry. Also, a biopic is more realistic & enjoyable when the actor resembles the person they're trying to portray :)
