With five Democratic lawmakers now publicly calling for Biden to step down, Congressional Democrats are planning to meet over the next few days to discuss the future of Biden’s 2024 campaign. Sen. Peter Welch of Vermont joins Ali Velshi to discuss what’s at stake and the most important considerations for Democrats during this “unprecedented” moment. “We as a party have a loyalty to one another and to the party,” Sen. Welch says. “But the party has to have, first and foremost, the loyalty to serving the people of this country. And the job for our party is to defeat Donald Trump.”

No particular reason? If Trump becomes president, should those of us who support Biden boycott the American government? Really? After he had gotten 270 electoral votes, if he does? I mean, you will quit work so you don't have to pay Soc Sec and Medicare taxes? You will try to travel abroad without a passport? If you don't like what Sen. Welch or Mr. Velshi has said here, then reply to their comments. If you just boycott (and I'll bet you won't because then that means no pithy comments on their web pages from you either), they will have no idea why you are doing it and it will have zero effect on their content. The point is for them to upgrade their content in a manner that suits you, right? Not just to make a provocative comment.

I've been trying to wrap my head around the recent SCOTUS decision on presidential immunity since it now seems likely we will get a second Trump term. It seems anything he orders his staff or staff in agencies under his authority to do will be allowed, even if it is otherwise illegal. All he has to do is promise a pardon for those carrying out the acts. The possibilities for criminality are extensive. Even if it happens in the open, there would no repercussions, no recourse other than impeachment, which would be unlikely.

Mea culpa! I've been writing lately that Pres. Biden's staff should never have been letting him fly all over creation in June like a jet-setting rock star. I still believe that his schedule should have been much better managed. However, I at least strongly implied that he was going to have another nasty trip to the NATO summit this week, not realizing it was being held in Washington and the "nasty trip" was from Harrisburg, PA to DC. Sorry for that mistake. I never did bother to check where the NATO summit was being held.
