John Mc Cain is a true American hero. Whether you agreed with him in politics, he commanded respect for his integrity, his sacrifice for the nation and his sense of fairness. Even during a heated campaign, his honesty and sense of fairness was evident. After his passing, even his political rivals joined in eulogy. A true Giant. Lesser spirits cannot understand him.

Again, people that refuse to believe the truth. McCain was NOT a hero. I gave reasons in my comment above. The men that actually served WITH MCCAIN said he was not a hero. He betrayed his fellow soldiers. More than once. McCain claiming to be a war hero was a case of “stolen valor”. His fellow soldiers have said Not So!! They know what really happened because they were there.

Any woman that has loved a dedicated American that served their country in the military, served their community by keeping it clean, working to protect their water and utilities, a person who cares about their family and neighbors and making their community a clean and safe place to raise their kids, these are real people. There aren’t any suckers and losers in my photo album, every young man that served this nation, retired firefighters and city workers, my dad made sure the morning paper was printed and ready to go to your porch before breakfast, a family of teachers and nurses and machinists, pavers and maintenance of our roads and bridges and runways, we appreciate real leadership, an American not after to get their hands dirty or risking their futures to serve as protectors of safety and security, and those who teach and counsel. America has always been great, but Trump would never know or appreciate how many dedicated and caring people that takes. Trump is shameful and has no clue about the people that really make America great.

Donald Trump still does not have any respect for those who have made enormous sacrifices serving their country. As someone who has already been the President, he should know better. His comments about veterans make me sick, and I'm not even American. John McCain was one of the last republican politicians with real integrity and decency. He made decisions he thought were best for the country, not just for his own re-election. Even defended his political opponent against unfair accusations.

McCain was known as “songbird” in the military for a reason. He GAVE his units coordinates to the enemy. He did it in exchange for better treatment for himself….He was a TRAITOR, he was never a hero. He also was the pilot of an aircraft on a carrier and CAUSED an accident so bad that 100 soldiers were killed. Ask the elderly veterans that served WITH MCCAIN in the military what John McCain was ACTUALLY like. He fabricated his war record when he returned to the states, and was actually guilty of “stolen valor”. You think he’s going to tell his own daughter what he ACTUALLY did in the military? Of course Megan thinks her father was a hero. He’s NOT going to tell his children the truth. Megan has stars in her eyes about her father. But she had never been told the TRUTH by him, either. The veterans that served with him KNOW the truth. McCain was NEVER a “war hero”….He was a traitor to his own fellow soldiers. The reason he hated Trump was because Trump told the truth about McCain and when he did, those former soldiers that knew McCain from back then started coming forward and acknowledging that what Trump said about McCain was the truth.

I remember when the old (future MAGA) woman tried to tell McCain that Obama was a Muslim born in Kenya (this is when they were campaigning against each other) and McCain corrected her and said Obama was a good man who loved his country and they just had different points of view. We may have become irredeemable as a population that deserves our freedom, given that so many of us have become naive or stupid (or both) or are politicians willing to leverage that stupidity for their own narrow, greedy fascist agenda.

I must confess, my concerns regarding Trump arose well before his remarks about John McCain. As a former U.S Marine and Gulf War veteran who experienced the loss of several fellow Marines overseas, Trump's comments about McCain marked a turning point for me. I believed he would face severe backlash from Republicans, and I couldn't fathom them rallying behind him. The disbelief I experienced upon witnessing his support surge, especially among veterans, was truly disheartening.

I didn't know much about McCain when he was running against Obama in 2008. I was 25. I only thought, "He's a republican and scary. He wants war" After he died and I saw the documentary about him "For Whom the Bell Tolls", I could not believe how much my opinion had changed. He truly was a man of honor and a war hero and it really helped me understand why he spoke the way he did. I also remember when Obama won that night, and he so graciously conceded and spoke well of the Obama campaign. That's true American right there. I tend to vote blue but ever since then, I have opened my eyes and have always considered voting republican in each election. Thank you McCain. Trump on the other hand is the epitome of "I should be able to do what I want when I want with no consequences" How mocking McCain wasn't the end of his political career I'll never understand. He's disgusting.

Although the good senator and I would have had many disagreements about policy, I consider him to be a man of the highest honor and integrity. Someone offered Trump his purple heart and he took it. Said he's "always wanted one of his own". He shouldn't have dodged the draft then should he. Put himself in a position where he might have been at risk of injury. I worked with children with social/emotional issues and many would make fun of other children because it would make them feel that they were in control of or had power in a situation, it would give them attention-negative was good enough for them and some even felt that they were truly superior than others. My great grandmother had her brother's purple heart. I remember as a child she'd let me look through her old things and i loved looking at it. Wow that was a memory I completely forgot about until just now. It was something extremely important to my grandmother and I thought it was beautiful. Definitely agree that it's not something to joke about.
