Kerala caters around 3.5 to 4 million migrant workers. The workers come from around 25 states, as it provides the highest daily wages in the country. The people who migrate due to lack of employment, poverty, extreme climatic conditions, find a better living in Kerala. They find the state stable, socially and economically. They are employed in agricultural, non agricultural sectors, factories, construction companies and many of them even run small scale ventures. The longest migration corridor in the country was found in the state where laborers from Dibrugarh in Assam migrate to southern districts of Kerala. Here they explain why they have migrated, why they stay back in the state for many years and what Kerala means to them. Here is their Kerala story.

As a Keralite, we don’t even know the religion of our neighbors, because we never bothered about it. We believes they are our relatives. We educate together, plays together, eat together, celebrate together and lives together ❤

Yesterday I saw an indian reel on Instagram where admin has asked Pakistanis about where they would like to visit in India if get a chance and 99% were wishing to visit Kerala and then Tamil Nadu. I've watched some documentaries and I'm in love with Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Keralites. Amazing people, otherworldly food and top notch hospitality. No wonder why we people in Pakistan know all about Kerala much than other states in India. I'm from Balochistan and I so wanna explore beautiful Kerala one day. Lots of love all the way from Balochistan. Namaskaram 🇵🇰🙏🏻

Im a proud kannadiga who lived in Kerala for around 10 years. The people over there dont even ask what religion or what caste you belong to. Ive had very good friends who are muslims and christians. Never discussed religion or caste. None of us promoted our religion and beliefs as well.

I'm a kerala Christian engineer, my son studies in govt school. His best friend is Hindu from Assam. His parents are labourers. He has many classmates from Bihar, Assam and Gujarat. These people find Kerala so good that they even bring their siblings children to study in kerala.
