I think when she lies she forgets that it’ll be brought up again because she’s gotten such a pass from other journalists. Jane Pauley’s question was a surprised to her because she had to remember that she claimed to have experienced suicidal ideation. But she didn’t like it because it was so specific and framed her (in her mind) as weak (even tho she had framed herself as a victim to the press and in-laws herself). But she wants admiration and attention and not to be called on inconsistencies. That’s why she made a point to say it was something she’d “overcome” - to once again distinguish herself as different and above it, and also walk back from the lie. I’m surprised no one is catching that. She wants to be seen as these parents’ hero or savior, and such an activist. She doesn’t want to be viewed as one of them exactly. And while I think you can heal a lot from depression, suicidal ideation is not something you heal from “one day to the next”. Even when move on from time or place that compounded your trauma. But that’s what she’s implying. She overcame it but these people can’t like “she could”. When she gave that Oprah interview not much time had passed from leaving Britain, and yet she framed it as if “I’m all better now…but those ppl were so mean to me and that’s the only reason I suffered…but I’m not a victim/im empowered” etc. And here she is again trying to reinforce that differential because Jane’s question focuses on the lie and the victim part. She finally got close to being called out, albeit a little unintentionally.

So tired of meghan and harry. They need to go home, stay there and stay quiet. No one wants to hear any more whining from them.
