Very nice exposition Sir. I am learning a lot from your insightful videos. Dharma as you rightly point out has multiple dimensions and is defintely NOT religion as understood today. However, even if the shlok is part of Chapter 8 which deals largely with justice, it is equally applicble to "कर्तव्य कर्म" dimension of dharma. Allegorically it can be seen as your house(set of convictions/ ideology). If you protect your house, built strong and kept in a state of good maintenance, it will protect you. Else it is certain to be the cause of doom. In today's times, the above interpretaion assumes importance.

Mr. Nityananda Misra Ji Esq., for your information, Dharma is not Saswath since we all witnessed Dharma changes with time and place at every Yug or Yugam. Sathyam (truth) is Saswatham and it is not confined to time and space. Sanathana Dharma is based on Sathyam and due to this reason Sanathana Dharma is Saswatham. Also, Sanathana Dharma has no Adi (beginning) or Anth (end) since Dharma is in the form of Divam (Iswar) and we need to understand it through Tatvikam (Vedantam). Manusmurthi teachings must come from Arshavidya (Sampradayam) this is the correct method of teaching and will avoid all confusion/s. Example: Refer to the discussion between King Dasarath and Kikeya in Srimadh Ramayana authored by Valmiki. King Dasarath failed to make Lord Rama the King of Ayodhya because he was following Dharma (during Ramayana time elder son in the family will claim the throne) but he forgot the commitments/acceptance/promises he made to Kikeya before marriage that he would make Kikeya son to be the next King of Ayodhya. Kikeya was following the truth (Sathyam) and challenged Dharma and we all know that Rama accepted it with no regrets. The rest of the story is well known to all since Lord Rama was following Brahamarshi Gauthama (Author of Nyaya Sastra and Dharma Sastra) and till now we all follow Brahamarshi's footsteps. It would be easier if you also use the popular Hindi words alongside the Sanskritised words so that I can catch up with every single sentence. I appreciate your efforts but as I'm not used to this intensity of pure Hindi. Thereby the request.

Dharma does not protect, in fact dharma is the weakest and the most fragile personal balancing mechanism there is. It is prone to be challenged and needs to evolve as per time and space. I feel Dharma, above all, needs strength and power to be protected, otherwise, it is prone to be trampled and forgotten. I feel, in this day and age, for folks who follow a dharma of some variation, will inevitably be challenged, even dharma variations challenge each other subjectively, even if it is within the practitioner. But dharma, as a principle, is weak and helpless, prone to be subjected to aggression particularly if it is not malleable. And if it is malleable, it is worthless.

Nityanand ji, I respect and appreciate your command over Sanskrit. But I am disappointed with the use of your Sanskrit skills. Please get it in your head that there is a vast difference between knowing a language and knowing a subject. Example - anyone knowing English is not the one to explain E=MC squire. One needs the knowledge in physics for that. Please refrain from talking about religion or spirituality just because you know some Sanskrit. Your explanations on various subjects are pathetic and laughable. Most people in India don't know Sanskrit. That has put them at a disadvantage and subjected them to be exploited for centuries. What are you doing? Please mind your love for Sanskrit and stay away from explaining subjects out of your domain. Thank you.
