Id never heard someone say they didn't like thinking of one chord over another like Dm6 over G7. So refreshing! That never sat well with me. The one lick that worked over many chords never felt....authentic? Maybe it helps to unlock new sounds but it feels important to know how each note relates to the chord, rather than "I know this works because of the formula"

I'd count this as a great composition, actually. Kudos! Apropos nothing in particular, thinking about Jim's tone here I was thinking "man, he must run heavy strings!", but then got to the tech notes -- nope! regular ol' 9's!

Beautiful song and playing...I have a question, and I know this is probably like asking if the first chord of "Chelsea Bridge" is Eb7 or Bbmin6, but would you call this rhythm a "Beguine" or a "Bolero"?

Jim your sound is really organic, mind to tell what you are using (please) guitar, amp , string, pickups….the whole 9 yards 😂, thanks to both of you, I wish I could get to that level soon 🍻🎼🍻

@@sega62s I'm not sure which one. You can probably email him or look through his older videos for a list of equipment that he uses. On his YT channel, there is a video where he covers what guitars he uses, maybe that one mentions amps as well. Good luck. If I can find out, I'll let you know too.

Question, I have a top loader tele also. My strings come undone on the bridge where the ball is, or it breaks. Has that happened with you? Do you have any suggestions to prevent that. Thanks.

D'Addario? This is a common issue with Jazzmasters (also top loaders, so to speak). Some people drop a little solder on the string wind near the ball (and I think there are strings that come pre-soldered). You might also try running a tiny bit of steel wool through the string holes in the bridge to remove any tiny burrs in there (I would advise taping off the bridge pickup - or maybe both to be safe - when you do this, and cleaning off the bits of steel wool before removing the tape so the steel wool fragments don't stick themselves to the pickup). That ended up smoothing things out enough on mine that it seems to be holding (I like half-rounds, which limits me to D'Addario strings, and I didn't really want to have to solder my strings every time I changed them). And if it is D'Addario, maybe try another brand?
