Walmart has been gaining market share among wealthier shoppers, which it defines as those with household incomes over $100,000, for the better part of the past two years-ever since inflation started trending up.

The only American who won't acknowledge this Administration's failed economic policies is Joe Biden. "Shrink-flation' is the least of our worries compared to rising rents and stagnant wages, but it is an undeniable indicator of how bad our inflation has gotten. I have $100k that i like to invest in a non-retirement account, any advice on that?
@brucemichelle5689.

I would avoid index funds, mutual funds, and specific stocks for the time being. Right now, the best option is a fixed income of five percent. Put money aside for the times when the market really starts to bounce back.

45% of Americans do not invest in the stock market because of lack of guidance. Every year you don't invest, you are falling behind. I’m hitting numbers in the stock market I used to dream of… Going from $50k to $600k in my portfolio is surreal all thanks to insights from my financial advisor.

High inflation is followed by uncertainty and panic, making me wonder if it's time to liquidate my $200k portfolio, or maybe consider some defensive investments. I've heard analysts emphasize on value stocks performing good, what stocks exactly can be the ultimate hedge?

The U.S. economy can actually get better if only the govt can start making better decisions for the sake of it's citizens, cos' they've really made life more difficult for its residents. I see the rising interest rate as a very big problem, as more investors will definitely pull out more money from the Stock market. This might have worked when I was still invest-ing with a couple thousand dollars, but it is more difficult now to decide whether to pull out more than $365k from my port-folio. I know some inves-tors still make that despite the strong bear market. In wish I could pull that feat

Agree. I started out adulthood literally broke and had to penny pinch in order to make sure I could afford my room as well as food for the pay period. Fast forward 12 years of blood sweat and tears, and our household income is over $150K. Literally never stopped my shopping habits and I still bargain hunt like if we were a $25K household. There are things that make sense to spend on and things that don’t. Groceries fall into the “things that don’t category”. Frankly as long as we have fresh veggies, fruit, and meat on the table it really doesn’t matter of if I buy it from Whole Foods or from Walmart. I learned a long time ago that all the marketing Whole Foods try to slap on their products are just for a “rich person” tax and you can find a lot of the same things for FAR cheaper at other places. Costco is great, Winco is fantastic, Walmart is good. There is no shame in bargain hunting! Many high income bracket people do this, they just don’t talk about it.

I only go to Wal-Mart if I absolutely have to. They do still have good deals on certain things, and a lot of choices. I don't buy my groceries there though. I shop at a locally owned IGA store. The selection isn't as good as Wal-Mart, but the prices are fine and their meat department blows any other grocery store out the water. The meat prices are cheaper too.

It might have more to do with the fact that you can now order from Walmart and have it brought out to your car. This eliminates the trauma of having to walk into a Walmart and walk amongst the stereotypical Walmart shoppers. IYKYK!

No surprise. There is a different mindset between those who are “rich” and those who are “wealthy”. Rich people like to flaunt and tend to buy stupid expensive things to show off. Wealthy people are some of the cheapest/stingiest individuals you’ll ever meet. CEO of my last company drove a used 10 year old civic, showed up in whatever was the latest Costco fashion, and always packed his lunch. Very wealthy individual and also very smart if you talked to him. Meanwhile his middle managers were dressed to the nines, drove expensive cars, and always flaunted how rich they were. I don’t think it’s a new phenomenon that wealthy people are shopping at Walmart. I think it’s a new phenomenon that the rich people are and it’s most likely due to them having to ACTUALLY try to budget due to massive credit card debt.

I do intermentant fasting on a regular and long term fasting (3 day water fast at least once a month) including after a family function or a wedding or go out to buffet then I will fast for 3 days or more.... Fasting keeps my weight down, keeps me healthy and saves me alot of money. ...This might not seem like the answer you want, but it will help you in many ways especially in health and saving alot money... Seltzer water, lemon water and unsweeten almond milk is the key.... Today is Wednesday I start my fast Thursday all the way till Monday (Memorial Day) I'm going to a going away party... That's 5 days I will not be spending any Money over $5 a day Or less... Now you get the idea how much money I can save

These comments amaze me. Truly rich people don’t shop for themselves they send someone to go get 100 cans of coke 50 sprite 40 bars of soap etc etc and the person sent will decide what is best option based on several factors like time as time is most valuable to the rich not anything Walmart offers. The rich whenever shopping is not buying soap shampoo etc but just relaxing and browsing so it in a nicer place.

The homestyle chicken sandwiches slap, as far as meat goes I've started buying local butchers and getting more bulk.
