I welded a crowbar to the back of my Rolex and it got the back off so easily. The only downside is the watch movement and dial and glass need replacing now and the case and the strap.
@@giovanidiamonds it's got nothing to do with the price of the watch. the method he shows takes considerably longer than doing the job properly, it's much messier than doing the job properly and it wouldn't even work on watches that have even an average level of water resistance. The guy hasn't got a clue.
@@j1spen736If you do not have a case back opener than the common alternative would be covering a knife in tape and carefully using it. That is not much better than what this guy showed and his method prevents scratching. You are just a hater
I bought a watch repair kit from Walmart. It was only 10 dollars and came with the proper tool for this and the tools to remove links from the band. I figured it was worth it since I own multiple watches
As long as it's a basic quartz watch with a back that is the same size as the watch face. If it's a "minimalist" style watch with the back being smaller than the face you have to use compressed air through the crown hole to pop the crystal out. Which sometimes can be done by using a piece of painters tape as a seal with a pin hole for air to get through and then holding a ball pump needle against it. But I wouldn't do that for an expensive watch. The jewelers knife is the tool you use to pry off the back. It looks like a knife but when you touch the blade you find it's not sharp, so you won't injure yourself or damage the watch with it. If you have never completely disassembled a watch before you should probably watch a video on quartz watch disassembly and assembly. You will need to identify the crown release on the movement for your specific watch. After you get the face out be careful not to damage the hands. Make sure they aren't bent to where they could hit each other when you reassemble.
Better idea: Just take your watch to a jeweler to get the battery replaced. Typically they'll do it for like $10 including the cost of the battery. And obv they know what they're doing just fine.
This worked great for me! I appreciate the idea. I used: a carpenters pencil, more surface area, and I also covered the watch with hot glue as well as the pencil itself. Creates a lot of leverage for those stuck lids.
I admit I was a hater and thought "This will never work." Just tried it on two watches and it worked amazingly. Didn't even need alcohol to remove the glue, just pried it off the cap when it was removed; super easy. Thank you!
There is a groove on the inside of many case backs to allow clearance for the crown. If you're lucky, you'll break your crown while you're at it with this method kids!
Not all watches will have backplates that pop on so easily. A neat trick, to be sure, but as a guy who replaces watch batteries for a living, I have to say, if you're not the the type that is comfortable with learning new technical skills and getting some tools for said skills, definitely just take your watches to someone else who knows what the hell they're doing. I even have a watch I'm taking to a jeweler...
Open it with a screw driver a small screw driver there’s a little place on the back of the watch get the screw driver in that space push it hard and done it’s opened ✅
Can you at least put the case back correctly shits crooked .. one it’s going to bother me two you can possibly break or lock the stem it has a groove for the stem.. please let this be your last video. Brand new box blade use correctly works best.
Sometimes I’ve had luck with another technique, if it’s corroded a little bit of oil and a touch of acetone, the acetone drives the oil deeper. Just a thought👍
This is fake. He started showing a watch with grappling places, which means the back is threaded, than he showed a watch with smooth back which has their back clicked to the watch. For a clicked back a small screwdriver will do, and the glue probably won't help.
