Episode 39 - “Boston” George Jung - How much money is enough?
How much money is enough to satisfy you? If you had to choose a dollar amount that would make you say “I’ve got what I need, I can retire happy now,” what would that dollar amount be? That’s what BigMike asks “Boston” George Jung in this episode of Business Outlaws. It’s not an easy question to answer, and it’s not something most people ever really think about. But when he was facing jail time and the prospect of losing everything he’d built, BigMike asked himself that very question. And in his years as one of the most prolific cocaine smugglers in the world, chronicled in the Johnny Depp film Blow, Jung faced this same dilemma. “I was a thrill junkie,” guest “Boston” George Jung tells BigMike and Chris “Bulldog” Collins in this episode of Business Outlaws. Jung’s no stranger to immeasurably huge financial success and the dangerous realities that come with pursuing it. You’ve seen Blow and heard Jung’s name, but here’s your only opportunity to listen to him tell his story in his own words. It’s not just flying planes over the border and dropping tons of cocaine and sitting at Pablo Escobar’s table; it’s a story of self-reflection and evolving perspectives on who we are and why we do the things we do. “We’re all here for a reason,” he tells our hosts. Listen now to hear Jung’s reason. When the episode’s over, head to www.BusinessOutlaws.com for exclusive content and behind-the-scenes footage from the studio. And don’t forget to follow @BusinessOutlaws to access even more awesome exclusive content.

I like what his dad told him in the bank at the beginning of blow... It's something along the lines of .. When you're up it never feels good enough, like you can't get enough and when you're down it feels like you'll never get back up but life goes on.. Money's not real ppl only think it is

Rule 1 in interviewing = if you have someone telling a story, let them tell it. Jesus this was infuriating to watch. This man is a legend, has been through more than most people combined, and could sit and tell his stories without any questions and captivate whoever was listening for hours. The moment I had to click off is when he’s explaining what Pablo was turning into and surprise, the guy who kept interrupting…interrupted.

Great interview, I was one of the lucky ones who got out when crap got super-crazy and I was awakened to the fact of how out of control I was. I've had to maneuver in the East Texas area. The Bible belt. Where the cops still left-handed high-five each other for getting to control and judge what brand of cigarettes your smoking to this day Fall of 2023. I vowed a long time ago never let someone else tell me how to be or what to be or what brand of cigarettes to smoke

I knew the rules and the risks. Some of my people got caught with more than 20 ounces and went federal on the mandatory minimums. A lot of them actually didn’t know. They asked me “what am I gonna get 3-5”. I just shook my head and said idk but I did. I was terrified for them and their families who I loved. Watched many children grow up without a father. God bless it they all graduated and made it out. Can’t get anything back from it

Just became a fan of you guys after watching this podcast with yall and Boston George. I'm facing 6 to 8 years in prison and his attitude and what i got sized when I got rated made say fuck it I aint gonna look back ever again and regret it. I'm just gonna live the moment and deal with the consequences and once my day in court gets here take it like a man George did almost 30 years total all combine, I can sure deal with what's coming to me, at least I'm going in with my head up. Thank God right now covid it's helped me stayed out of prison. But within the next 6 months I'm gonna be gone. Im in colorado If yall know a good lawyer that could help me please inbox me. My case wasn't picked up from the feds thank God and stayed with the state. I wish I could talk to George and hear some positive shit from this guy.

This man made hundreds of millions of dollars. Ya know what you save some but you blow a whole lot on stupid shit you help people. I rented entire hotel floors for homeless had thousands of dollars of food delivered. Helped a few get into rehab ones that mattered single moms dad's and families. I went to heavy metal concerts did VIP meet and greets with people like Ozzy Osbourne Tommy Lee ect ect I partied with them spent 100 grand in 1 night at a casino with Black Sabbath. Then the end came 1 sale to a woman who turned CI ove a 50 dollar bag. She did 3 controlled buys and I was busted. Did my time got sober and now been in recovery a long time and help people get into treatment.

This right here....yes dealing and smuggling etc is bad, however alot of facts get lost in translation to the public, some of the baddest most powerful mofos I've known, did alot more with their earnings for people in need or just people than they ever get credit for. I believe this story. My uncle for example ended up getting life after all was said and done but while he was out and running he threw fundraisers, charity balls and events, donations to children's hospitals, provided groceries to local shelters, helped many folks old and young get on their feet by eating up their debts or set them up in apartments or houses, things like that. Yes he was bad and yes did what was illegal, but it wasn't like it just went to 100 lambos and mansions and self serving treats like that. ALOT was given to unfortunate cases and people. That never makes the papers though. I remember one instance when I was.visiting him(had to.sneak.bc my folks wrote him off due to lifestyle) and I simply had mentioned this car I had seen over and over parked at a Walmart that clearly someone was living out of, my uncle said finish that plate and let's roll. I tagged along and we drove to this guy knocked on his window and my uncle offered to set him up in a.housing complex he was renting out. The man, obviously not believing him and without much money refused but he insisted and brought him there, waived his first 6 months of rent, showed up in the morning with.all kinds of toiletries, microwave, groceries, blankets, clothing basically everything u need to live and got him working for a landscaping crew on the books that.next week. I'll never forget that. Glad you've got your life back and wish all the best in your future endeavors. Just thought I'd chime in to say it's true and alot of bad guys actually have hearts, they aren't just mindless lunatics causing havoc everywhere. Some are yes of course but certainly not all.
